Wanted: An 'inspirational leader' for Shannon role (Limerick Leader)

Shannon Group advertise for Neil Pakey's replacement as chief executive

The Shannon Group is expecting “strong interest” in the post of chief executive officer, replacing the outgoing Neil Pakey when his contract expires in June.

The group is seeking an “ambitious” CEO who will deliver on strategic objectives, while also developing “a vision of further growth”. The “exceptional candidate” will be expected to “drive progress in the group’s evolution” and as such will require an “inspirational candidate” who has a track record of significant achievement.

“The process of recruiting a new CEO for what is a dynamic organisation and key economic driver for the Mid-West and beyond is now under way and we expect strong interest in this post by the time the closing date of February 5 next is reached,” said a spokesperson.

Anyway, good to see SAA advertising for a new CEO. Would it not be wiser to have separate CEO's for the Shannon Group side of things and another for the Airport? Don't give the payroll excuse either, that wouldn't be an issue for the Shannon Group :)

Not before time, as the first part of the airport incoming visitors see it was a bit of a dump.

A holiday flight was diverted to Shannon Airport this afternoon after the crew declared a medical emergency.

Ryanair flight FR-7126 was travelling from Dublin to Las Palmas on the Spanish Island of Gran Canaria at the time.

The flight was less about an hour into its journey when the crew alerted controllers to their emergency soon after 3pm.

There's a Monarch in that photo, what are the other two? And how old is it?

Looks like a pair of Boeing 767s with a B707 or DC-8 partially visible in the foreground.
I don't recognise any of those liveries though, not any of the mainstream airlines that served Shannon back in the day.

I've seen that photo used loads of times and I'd guess it's 15-20 yrs.old

I'd say that photo is circa 2005, that's a Polet 762 that sat at Shannon for months.

North American airlines are gone a few years now also

Asl Airlines France apply for FAOC to operate CDG-SNN-PVD (Providence, Rhode Island).

This would mean the promised Rhode Island route, and ontop of that Paris CDG! (Although probably at something silly like 1pw)

Clare.fm reported this today . . . negotiations continue between the Airport Authority and French airline ASL with a view to operating a new transatlantic service.

ASL is seeking US government approval to operate flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to Providence, Rhode Island - this service would also stop at the MidWest Airport.

See also previous post on regarding the signing of a letter of intent with Rhode Island Airport.

Nice to see some Shannon Airport advertising online again, in Youtube ads and other places.

Apparently SNN only has US flights because of the length of the runway and 75% of the passengers using Aer Lingus' transatlantic flights from SNN are from Cork.

Haha this is brilliant, Twitter can be very entertaining.

A link to the CSO site would call a halt to that rumour mill

Not even going to go on Twitter anymore! :pac:

I would have liked to have thoughts that at least 50% of the people using the service would be from the US :D
