Aer Lingus are no longer selling tickets for the United Shannon-Chicago service.

Considering Travel Service have taken over more and more of those French services in the last few years one wonders if they will take the rest now. IMO it's an ideal market for Ryanair to enter, French regional airports

How did that go last year though?

Poitiers and Nice (Very good loads for Nice) both cut for this year.

I know why both routes were cut and it wasn't because nobody was using them

Poitiers hardly did well though anyway though in terms of numbers.

Last year it ran for 5 days before Stobart flew away, this year it ran a full month.

Good LF on BIR or am I missing something? Avg 67/72= ~93%?

Remember, they are return flights and run at 6x per week.
So the BHX loads are 81/144=56%

I see that there were two United Airlines flights to Newark this morning.

    UA24| New York (EWR) United Airlines| B752 N12125| Departed 09:16
    UA2123| New York (EWR) United Airlines| B764 N76055| Departed 10:54

The N76055 aircraft had diverted to Shannon last week with engine trouble. An Atlas Air 747 cargo plane brought in a replacement engine.

    http://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/gardai-asked-to-investigate-after-laser-pointed-at-shannon-bound-jet-721442.html
    19/02/2016 - 17:14:57Back to Ireland Home

    By Patrick Flynn

Gardaí have been asked to investigate an incident where a flight on approach to Shannon was targeted by use of a potentially harmful laser.

The incident happened over Co Wexford at around 10.15pm last night as TNT Airways flight 1461 was descending towards Shannon Airport.

The cargo flight from Amsterdam had just passed south of Enniscorthy when the crew told air traffic controllers that a green laser had been aimed into their cockpit.

The crew continued to Shannon for a safe landing and did not report any injuries or adversely affected by the laser. The matter was reported to Gardaí in Wexford by controllers.

The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) takes such incidents very seriously and reports dozens of incidents to An Garda every year.

Lasers can affect the safety of an aircraft, especially if the flight is at a critical phase, such as landing. Pilots targeted in such incidents have previously reported flash blindness as a result of being targeted.

Just last Sunday, a transatlantic jet turned around north of Donegal and returned to London after one of the pilots reported being affected by a laser.

Virgin Atlantic flight 25 had been targeted while taking off from Heathrow earlier, however it was only an hour later before one of the pilots felt the affects of the beam.

The flight turned around and returned to London for a safe landing.

Last Friday, an Alitalia flight carrying Pope Francis to Mexico for a five-day tour was targeted while on approach to Mexico City airport. The jet landed safely.

Surely over Wexford they are approx. 27k feet. How would they get hit by a laser?

There are some very powerful lasers out there, although with that range they are rare and expensive.

Quite a few exhibitors to be seen at the Fly Shannon Holiday Show. (UL Arena)

Hope it makes a positive effect on the passenger numbers at Shannon, especially with the North American market.

    Anybody going to it?

Rumor of a Ryanair Cork announcement this Thursday...Their -700 jet will be flying down from Dublin.

And nothing from SNN. If the rumors are true, be tough competition for SNN this year/summer!

You won't be announcing routes to commence in April with only a months notice. Any announcement will either be routes commencing in November or capacity increases.

SNN has gotten FR capacity increases for this Summer too, PMI now runs 3pw in AUG and ACE 2pw in AUG and SEP.

Will be interesting to see what comes of it as they have trimmed NOC and have become much more peak season there.
