    hi lads quick question ?

there`s an ole lad that lives up the road from me, and some of the local dirt,
broke into his house last night, luckily he woke up and they ran off, he knocked into me today, and was asking me the law on shooting somebody who is robbing your house , I told him, my understanding of it was, if he felt like his life was in danger he could , but I wasn't 100% on it , anybody sure on the law ? id like to let him know and would like to be clear on it myself,

Even you shouldn't be giving him advice on this , if you turn round and say to shoot ,

And he tell the cop pat down the road said it was k u will find ur self in the **** , for knowing of this mans intentions and not reporting and having his firearms remove ,

The best bet is advise him get a gud barking dog , early warning system

You may not discharge a firearm in or from a public place e.g. a road or public park etc. You may not discharge a firearm within 60ft of a road or dwelling. Irrespective of where you are, you may not discharge a firearm in a manner which could cause injury to other people or to livestock or could cause damage to property or which in any event could be regarded as reckless or irresponsible.

That is the offensive weapons act, and not applicable in this case. That applies to reckless discharge or a firearm in a public place (which your home is not), carrying of knives and other pointed items, etc, etc.

The home owners Act of 2011 makes it so a home owner no longer has to retreat from an intruder and may defend their home/property and family.

The use of firearms for this purpose is a matter of RKBA (Right to keep & bear arms). I want to stress and make this abundantly clear. Firearms CANNOT be licensed for home defence. It's not a legitimate reason to get a license, and the whole RKBA topic is off limits here.
