I was wondering if anyone knows if the present problems with the Mount Carmel group will affect Aut Even? I sincerely hope not, having been there in the past I found it great. :)

Where all good Consultants go to retire. It has been in financial trouble more often than not in recent history hasn't it? I would say it might carry on, even without Mount Carmel group.

It would be in St. Lukes interest that it kept going, day services there can't cope with what they have, so would be much worse if private patients looked to get their procedures done at lukes. In an ideal world, the money coming in would be great, the reality is though, there are just no trolleys to put them on, they are filled with inpatients, and the waiting list for scopes grows longer.

I agree, it would be great if Lukes could do more private patients and generate income that way, but as you say, they just can't cope with it. It said on the news that the Mount Carmel group was in trouble, but no mention of the other hospitals. Lukes would be swamped if Aut Even went.

I think it is now part of another consortium. I only caught parts of that interview, perhaps it might be available on playback on kclr.

They can't be doing too badly they have just taken on another couple of surgeons. Doctors everywhere, but of course if you are really ill they will still fob you off back to St. Lukes.

Handy for elective surgery, but as I know from experience if it's an emergency it's into Lukes and a public ward, insurance or not.

    Aut Even Hospital Press Statement

I am pleased to reassure your readership that Aut Even Hospital is in great shape as we head into our Centenary year in 2015. Aut Even Hospital, which is a Limited Company is not affected by the planned closure of Mount Carmel Hospital Dublin. Aut Even has not been part of the Mount Carmel Group since shortly after Mount Carmel Hospital, Dublin was taken into NAMA.

All of us who work in healthcare are saddened by the planned closure of Mount Carmel Hospital. It is a difficult time to be in business and private healthcare is not immune to this situation.

Aut Even Hospital is doing well in difficult times and this is down to the commitment of our Consultants and staff and the strong support that we have from the local population who have access to our services.

Aut Even is an important part of the local health economy and we continue to develop our services in response to local need. For 2014 six Consultants have joined Aut Even to expand the range of services and choice available.

    · Mr Paul Hegarty, Consultant Urologist

    · Miss Helen Hegarty, Consultant Urologist,

    · Dr. David McMurray, Consultant Gynaecologist

    · Dr. Kathir Tamilmani, Consultant Pain Specialist

That's good news, hopefully with all the increases in health care insurance costs you won't be affected too much, and you can take the overflow from St Lukes, the last thing anyone wants is another hospital to close.
