True enough he gave the job to Cesc, but he clearly spent money on Hleb, Diaby, Adebayor, Walcott and possibly Rosicky as well (Can't remember if he signed in 05 or 06?).

Don't think we'll take a hammering at the emirates but will probably lose by a goal or 2 if we're chasing the game near the end. IF we got a result (win) and if spurs got something at anfield then 2nd place is realistic. I'm trying to convince myself here ;-)

Anyway a bit of the 1 nil from the season before last please arsenal!

Vela was useless in the first team. He got chances on loan too and was sent back with no further interest. He was never going to be good enough for Arsenal. Spain suits him far more.

I'll credit him with some will power to keep coming back. Yes he's well paid but he's had a horrible time of it. I'm hoping against hope that he makes a full recovery and becomes an important part of the first team squad.

Imo those stats for Vela are more impressive than Giroud's. Vela's only real provider would be Griezmann compared to Giroud who has Ozil,Cazorla,Pod etc.

Giroud has 36 in 88 over two seasons. Vela has 43 in 117 over three seasons. Only 7 goals in the difference despite Vela playing almost 30 games more. In England, Vela scored 13 in 70 games. Bendtner has a record that is almost twice as good.

Giroud is better.

Giroud is better.

imo you can't compare Vela at Arsenal to Vela with Sociedad.. He is twice the player he ever was at Arsenal.

Also again Giroud is playing in a Champions league side with world class midfielders and wingers supporting him. Vela his playing with a team that finished 12th last season. You can't ignore that.

Real Sociedad did not finish 12th last season, they finished 4th. Which makes them a Champions League team too.

This is utter nonsense. Some people just want to whinge.

Vela failed for us, and is now doing worse than Giroud is in an easier league which suits him far better than the PL ever did, with far less pressure, and you make up crap to make him seem more impressive, and suggest we should replace Giroud with him.:pac:

I'm not Girouds biggest fan but would take him over Vela everyday. Already done much more. Vela was a flop and now only coming good in a terrible league leaving out the top three.

I said this:

He'd be a really good option for left wing/Striker. I do believe he'd rejoin if he was promised game time.

and I still think he's better than Giroud on current form. But I never said I wanted him to replace Giroud with Vela.

Like I said in my post he'd be a good option for left wing if we don't sign anyone.

His team-mate Griezmann would be a much better option for left wing. He's denied having reached an agreement with PSG so hopefully we might still have a chance of getting him.

Griezmann and Inigo Martinez would be a great double signing, I can't see either staying with Sociedad after this season.

If we're to be fair, that was equivalent to the Newcastle finishing 5th job they achieved in 11-12, they just pushed way too far above their weight.
9-13th is realisitcally where Sociedad are usually at

A win tomorrow and its all wide open again. There are still a few twist and turns left in this season, wouldn't give up hope yet.

If they weren't a selling club, they'd be making another strong at the top 4 this season, to be honest.
