I'm nearly half tempted to sell my ticket with that setlist.

what the hell are you expecting?

I can't get my head around so called fan's shocked that the setlist is full of tracks from AM. They are touring this album which has been a big seller. They ain't going to be playing Humbig b-sides and the First album from start to finish.

It's the lack of variation that annoys me really. Even changing up the order would be fine - we shouldn't be able to go into a concert and rattle off the setlist. As said above it really does look like they're not arsed and are just going through the motions.

With there being no pit at arcade fire last night I take it that it will be the same as Arctic monkeys? i mean they arent gona spend time changing the site around are they.

Ah come on, even if you do like AM, surely you find it a bit disappointing to not hear any of the classics? Especially considering how little they've actually played Ireland in the past 6/7 years.

I'm kind of disappointed with barely any of the classics making it in. Seeing them here and then in Lollapalooza 3 weeks later, but it's gonna be the exact same line up, you'd think with 5 albums behind them, they could even just change up the classics that they do play while keeping all the AM tunes if need be.

I'd happily go and see AM played from start to finish. Fantastic record.

The setlist just reeks of laziness to me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,069 ✭✭✭Irish Aris

but that's the reality for most bands nowadays-there is a standard setlist for the whole tour with very little changes - in the setlist itself or the sequence in which the songs are played.

Read quotes from Alex Turner saying playing songs like Dance floor and when the sun goes down feels like telling the same joke over and over again. I can understand they would get sick of those songs but fans pay alot of money so 2 or 3 from the early albums wouldn't kill them. I love AM so the set list is fine by me but would just love to hear Fake tales of San Francisco or Certain Romance thrown in there too.

They could easily please everyone by doing a good bit of AM but also still trowing in the hits like Dance Floor , Fake Tales , Teddy Picker etc by extending their set

I'd be happy with "When the sun goes down"

I am honestly sick to death of that song, I am happy it's not there. I am going to see them to hear some new stuff, this set looks perfect to me

    I agree.

They don't strike me as a band who love touring, unlike Foo Fighters for example

Haven't got a ticket yet but thinking back to the O2 gig a few years back and the set at Oxegen I got a serious hit of nostalgia and was about to get a ticket. But the set list just isn't great, that said AM is my least favourite album of there's so fair enough. But even to mix it up a little, Dance Little Liar live is an absolutely insane tune. If they are sick of playing the same songs then drop the likes of Dancefloor and throw in Riot Van, Mardy Bum, throw in a B-Side like Matador or something. Gah, I'm just frustrated cos I want to hear all my favourite tunes I guess :P

Can't believe Cornerstone doesn't make their set either :(

Looking at this you can't compare the set imo.

They have enough of a back catalog now that they could change it up quite a bit if they wanted, Pretty Visitors is my fave Artic Monkeys song but its been dropped now, they played it at Electric Picnic last year though.

Just had a look at the EP set there, that'd be pretty perfect!

Anyone know if there's any way to find out if there is gonna be a pit area at this? I know there wasn't one at Arcade fire, should we assume there definitely won't be one at AM

I would like to know this too, I was going to make an effort to get a pit pass but if there isn't one I wont need to arrive till much later.

How early are people gonna queue for this?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3 ciaranc1991

Me and aload of my friends are getting a bus down from belfast at 10am, which will leave us in Dublin at around 12 probably. As im not familiar with the local area does anyone know if there are any good bars close to marlay park for a few pints before gates open?

The Eden is the closest pub to Marlay and should be very busy on the day!

There's no point in queing, there's no pit. (unless its set up differently to the rest of the gigs in Marley so far)
