I might be up for the second half too, weather dependant - would probably prefer a later start than 7am though.

If I'm out I would need to be back by about 1/1.30 like godtabh so an early start is good. 7 or 8 works well.

We need to have Mirv in case we run out of drinks :)

Those rock shandies don't find themselves!

Tempted to do this, however Ive noticed an annoying scraping sound when I pedal out of the saddle..then disappears for the rest, and I know Id be out of the saddle for a lot of this lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 848 ✭✭✭mirv

It's probably your chainring rubbing off your front derailleur. Maybe index it and set the limits properly.

    Its more a scraping/twisting sound..really hard to describe :/

Sounds like its coming from the BB or rear hub, but they've both been replaced recently so it could be anything :(

Headset or stem when you put more pressure on front of bike?

I don't think so, it sounds like a sort of hollow creak/scrape..but only when I'm out of the saddle or pushing hard on the pedals (just like out of the saddle climbing) :/

Edit: PING sound..that's the word I was looking for

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,874 ✭✭✭Zyzz

Ah jaysus, after some quick googling and a flip of the front wheel..the sound is gone..looks like I've used up my only excuse..balls :|

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 848 ✭✭✭mirv

Maybe clean the axles and dropouts of both the front and rear wheel and where it meets the frame. I get creaks if grit gets in between where the axle clamps down on the frame.

Maybe 8am sunday (if I'm not destroyed by tomorrows spin). Maybe meet at Ballyboden Roundabout? (at the base of stocking lane and cruagh road)

Sounds good. If I show it's because I want Mirv to tell me how adjust my rear mech.

    And for the free fizzy.

I'll have to google that. I'll be out for a tough one tomorrow so we can take it easy on Sunday

Back from cycle4dsi, shattered as have been off the saddle for a little bit. People still up for a spin sunday morning? I'll do as much as my legs or pace allows. Also, I'm planning on doing the MB200 next week, but I've got to check when registration closes for that.

I did a good effort so probably in the same boat as you but I'll be there for a relaxed spin. Aim for 80/100km?

Is that at Taylors Lane/Ballyboden Road? Not familiar with the area?

Good spin lads thanks. Mirv, my bike is shifting perfectly!

    Rock Shandies all round.

Signed up for the Mick Byrne 200 yesterday. Who's coming?

Also, anyone up for a decent spin the next weekend? It's the last chance to get a long spin in before the Evil.

I'll be doing the MB 200 on Sunday (although I thought I was doing the Mount Leinster until Family got in the way).

Rather than flipping the wheel, try adding a small bit of lube between the fork dropouts and the faces of the axle locknuts and skewer. That has solved what sounds like the same problem for me on at least 2 different bikes.

Got the Mick Byrne 200 out of the way this year albeit slower and wetter than last year. Spin this saturday or sunday? Maybe 100-150km?

I d be interested, possibly turn back around 50km, but will depend on the weather. I ve zero interest this year in getting and staying wet.

I'm around for an early spin Saturday, I'd be up for 100k or so.

What's all this meeting up for spins prior to the day itself. I thought we were all supposed to be off training on our own, in black kit, after telling everybody we would be in Naas but actually doing altitude training in Kippure.

I've also been checking around the pharmacies and none of seem to stock those Columbian Cough drops.
