Calling all plumbers, Building Control regs 2014

    I dont know is any of you have been following the goings on with the new building control regulations which were signed off last week and will come into effect on 1st march 2014

    here they are

    Firstly they apply to all new buildings and extensions over 40 sq m.

    These regulations require a building contractor to be named prior to commencement.
    This building contractor must sign a certificate before and after works stating that they, or a competent person provided by them, oversaw the works and sign a certificate based on ancillary certificates of sub contractors.

    So thats where you come in.

    were you aware of how this may impact you?
    Do you intend providing certification for your work?
    If so, do you intend on becoming indemnified professionally?

    so how many of the regular posters are going to register with the"construction industry register ireland" "ciri.ie" while its voluntary this year it is to be made statutory . from march 1st builders have to provide ancillary certs from subcontractors to prove work is to building regs and to provide a certs you must be on register.

    It can only be a good thing in the long run, improving standards for the homeowner & ensuring the "professional" takes ownership of their works.
    I certainly will be registering.
