    Hey guys,

Maybe someone can point me in the right direction here. I have produced a few different websites through wordpress for various friends/relatives etc. Over the course of time I have developed my own workflow in terms of how to get ranked to a good standard in google, mostly using yoast and google xml sitemaps.

My most recent one however, refuses to index properly. I have literally followed the same steps that have worked in the past (various rankings from 1-3), but the current site indexes way back towards page 10, and does not seem to display any of the pages, just the homepage. Again, this works on others. I have tried searching "site:www.site.com" and it displays these alright, but im at a complete loss as to whats going on here.

I am, for the first time using a different hosting provider, but surely that shouldnt make a difference? I have attempted all-in-one seo plugin, along with google web tools (again, for the first time).. but nothing.

Any suggestions, information or advice would be very much appreciated, as its bugging the life out of me!

I won't say much as I'm typing with an onscreen keyboard but what your saying doesn't make much sense! As with ranking any 2 sites nothing will be an exact replica or respond in the same way, are you targeting different keywords I take it you are it could be as simple as that, it could possibly be the hosting but it could also be 101 other things from here I don't get what the error is as you found all pages with the site search so they are indexed.Only thing I see different is it's taking a bit longer or am I missing something ? My advice don't go messing with the site trying to see if something will work as you will only make things worse unless you know what your doing. You do know you need links pointing to your site and that yoast or the site map have nothing to do with that.

Go to twitter and post your link or whatever social platform see if it helps actually don't post in facebook it won't get indexed do twitter it will be indexed straight away. I have read your post twice so I really don't see something is wrong other than taking longer my bad if i'm missing something.

Maybe its a case of taking longer alright, I guess with the others the were listed within the first two to three pages within an hour or so, given the correct keywords. This particular one is equally as specific, so its not got to do with a larger amount of "rival" sites. Also, yeah the keywords are correct, I didnt copy and paste like that but rather stuck to the same options, settings, seo for each page etc. The site is posted throughout twitter alright, facebook too even though as you say that may be of no use. I understand what youre saying above alright, which is why I say that I stuck to the exact same workflow right the way through with this one. Could be a case of being a little more patient alright but when the same set of steps has worked for 4/5 previous ones and placed them well within such a small space of time, this one that is about a week old seems to be lacking something!

Interesting topic. We have just done an overhaul on one of our eCommerce sites that was not doing very well, largely due to the very competitive nature of the wider market it is operating in. Our offering is the very high end of a huge generic type market ( predominantly in the UK and the site is .co.uk).
What we did was to redo all our keywords and title tags, pic titles etc etc to reflect only the terms and phrases that are relevant to our specific segment/product description. We worked with a very experienced SEO and PPC guy to maker sure we hit on all the relevant terms and we also added a lot of new quality content and added a blog with a bunch of really nice posts. We redid the Adwords campaigns to reflect our new tight word/Phrase focus. Modestly, I would claim that what was done is just about as good as we can do it and it critiques well with some independent reviews.

Bottom line, the Adwords adverts are right up there at the top using our tighter new vocabulary, happy days on that. However, the organic SERP rankings are the same as they ever were..pretty crap!! Very frustrating to say the least, we have gone over it all again with a fine tooth comb and nothing jumps out. From a bit of hunting around various forums, it seems we are not alone, what used to take a week or two to start moving up the rankings is now taking much much longer. Patience seems to be the byword, sadly I am more of an instant gratification kind of guy. The hardest part will be to keep the head down plugging away at adding new quality site and blog and seeing no visible reward, yet, for all the effort and resources applied!!

To compound my confusion/frustration, we did the same to another one of our eCommerce sites that had been ranking and doing well, it is nearly immediately doing even better. Go figure.

My conclusion is that the better ranking sites are now getting the earliest attention from Google etc and they get around to newer offerings in a longer timeframe. With large growth rates in the actual numbers of global sites, I suppose this is to be expected at some level. More companies/organisations doing more SEO also increases the ranking competitive aspect too, I suppose.

I just hope time is the key!!

One thing you can count on with google is nothing is for sure. Nice job on the adwords ads if you optimize your sites meta tags via what's working in the adwords ads for your keywords its good for results.

One thing we have found in last year or so is that a new site can get ranked and ranked well quite quickly, but upgrading/redoing an existing site can take much longer to produce results. One site recently hardly moved for six months (apart from a couple of specialised and new pages) then jumped from page 2/3 to in the top 5 and now for most targeted terms is in top 3. That was a bad six months with the client wanting to know why nothing was happening.

Never good to redo sites with google, unless worth it as they treat em as dropped or flagged in some way till they decide to crawl .

We did go through the motions of submitting it to Goggle but there is no way we could change the domain to make it look like a new site, as we have too many existing users and printed materials etc!

I can at least take some comfort in knowing we are not alone or more importantly that it now pretty unlikely that we have actually done something to injure our ranking potential!

OK, so the site remains moribund down the rankings but when I search my actual brand "snazzybags", the site and asssociated sites are all over the first 2 and more pages of organic. Even the most complete product description search only yields the odd result well down the order!!
