Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Its not going to bad though ahead of us right now. Arsenal level Everton losing Spurs will more then likely lose. Although Liverpool Chelsea and City will all more then likely win.

Think Arsenal, city and chelsea winning is a good thing as long as its not against us, 4th place is what we are going for and that will be tough looking at liverpool.

Everton were always going to fall off. Spurs looking good recently but they are liable to fall apart. Liverpool are the real threat to top 4 this season.

We dont deserve top 4 based on our performances so far so i would be very happy with 4th, game against liverpool will be massive deciding it i think with rvp and rooney back we'll make it.

Valencia has done well this half. Cardiff have been shocking since the 2nd goal though.

Can't see united beating liverpool to fourth based on this form - Cardiff have been all over the place. United also have champions league fixtures to distract things.
If they do, I'd guess it will be liverpools squad that will be their downfall.

Aw! That should have been his first United goal

We should be putting 4 past the bottom side at home really, liverpools 4 against everton is impressive. It all comes down to the united liverpool game imo as it could drive on united and be a big blow for liverpool if they lose, but we also have arsenal and city :o

Mata was in a pocket of space Cleverley, why wouldn't you give it to him and go sideways to Evra?!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

How has valencia lasted 90mins? I have no idea what Moyes sees in him?

    Is Kagawa frozen out?

Was the pocket of space to the side or behind Cleverly?

I'm hoping not, it's only been one game and he can only make 3 subs!

Mata was in front of him. He went left to Evra.

I honestly believe if it were not for rooney and rvp injury the would have had no real game time to talk of

Kagawa hasn't performed this season. In fact, he's been terrible. It just shows that the german league is the most over rated league in the world.

I'm joking!!!! Christ, look at that vein in your forehead.

Not a hope in ****ing hell of getting 4th unless there is a huge improvement.Dire stuff again tonight.

Ironically I'm more annoyed by that than by the league position.

Not too sure, but it pushed him off the ball.

    Should be 3-0

I'm sickened by it to be honest.. cleverly has been shocking every game this season and still gets a game over someone who opens or looks to open an attack every single time he gets the ball.

Jan isn't a good enough goalscorer yet to play the 10. Rooney, RVP, Mata or Kagawa, probably Welbeck would have scored there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,949 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

This game should be out of sight

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,181 ✭✭✭Crimson King

By the way lads, did Rooney actually sign on or was that just a rumour?

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,193 ✭✭✭✭Kerrydude1981

    Good points

    Got the three points.
RVP and Rooney got game time under their belt.
Mata made his debut, was solid enough kept things simple.
Played well for the first 10 minutes.

    Bad points

Have to ditch this idea of playing lads in CM that aren't CM's.
Taking the foot off the gas once again and didn't build on the good play of the first 10 minutes.
Before the second goal Cardiff looked the better team.

Looking at the fixtures.. I can't see it. Think united will be lucky to still be 6 points and or even 9 behind them when that game comes around. I'd say the Arsenal game will be more of a hit or miss catalyst.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,536 ✭✭✭case885

Not sure but why is it other teams midfielders are alot more dynamic than uniteds, take arsenal for example ramsey and wilshere wide one week and deep another. Surely kagawa or rooney would be worth a shot now that mata is playing in the hole.

Serious surgery needed for that midfield. Thank god for smashly's goal or it could have been a nervous 30 mins.

Just back and missed the game. Can anyone summarise Mata's debut?

Kept it simple, picked a few nice balls in the first half, nothing to shout about. Solid overall

Had an assist too but in fairness, Young did all the hard work in that one.

Mata was impressive but looked rusty and perhaps lacking a bit of confidence. He will come good though.

Young and Valencia were shocking nothing new there. Some finish from Young though.

Aside from that we were completely over-run in midfield. Unless we give Bayern a blank cheque for Kroos then there is no way we will get 4th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,424 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

That 2nd half was a little more encouraging at least we looked like we might pinch a goal or two more and played well even on the wings.

Still lot of work to do, but 2nd half was much better then the last 35 minutes of 1st half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,536 ✭✭✭case885

Was tonight as good a chance as any to try a 4-2-3-1?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,630 ✭✭✭Alpha Dog 1

It was never going to be great with giggs and Jones in midfield. Jones needs to get back into defence ASAP.

Not sure what Moyes is planning when both RVP and Rooney are back fit and starting, don't see where Mata fits in unless changes are made in the formation. Still very much playing with wingers.
