Help needed with iTunes

I went to open iTunes on the laptop today and got the following message:

iTunes.exe - System Error

The programme can't star because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the programme to fix this problem.

I've tried reinstalling iTunes but that was unsuccessful. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! I'm at a loss!!!!

Try downloading the C++ Runtime (here) and see if it helps. Note: assuming you are running a 32Bit Windows XP install, if not let us know what version of Windows your running and is it 32 or 64Bit. Alternatively Google "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005" Vista, windows 7 etc. and see how you get on

Same thing happened to me after the most recent update, this fixed it for me: https://discussions.apple.com/message/24618776#24618776. You need to uninstall all Apple Software, before reinstalling iTunes.

This didn't delete any information from my iTunes library (kept all music, playcounts etc), but it's a good idea to make a backup before doing it anyway

Did this, all sorted. The worry was losing my library... backing it up is one of them jobs I've had on the long finger! Thanks for the replies!
