I see the Irish independent have used a screen grab from the http://earth.nullschool.net/ wind-map and credited Google for it!

Just back from the Sally Gap. Pretty Calm, Excellent visibilty, No Cloud, Sharp ground frost. Evidence of some heavy sleet earlier but even a midget on a motorcycle could get by.

    M7 Westbound
Parking / rest area near Birdhill.

    Motorway surface wet.
    2°C on vehicle thermometer.
    Clear sky.
Wind picking up a little (but nothing greater than a stiff breeze at this sheltered location) with a small amount of crosswind buffeting experienced when passing Nenagh.

From the M7 toll plaza as far as Junction 25, driving conditions were marginal with patches of ice. One, single vehicle, accident Eastbound of Junction 22 noted at 0155. Just East of where the M7 crosses the river Nore. Emergency services arriving on scene, no ambulance, tow truck in attendance.

Some interesting ATC chatter relating to weather radar and a particular flight noted on a VHF ATC frequency.

Travelling from Galway to Dublin Airport (hope flight isn't cancelled)
Currently near Kinnegad, clear skies, car temp gauge showing 0 degrees, seems to be little or no wind, for now.

Wind's after waking me up in Galway City. It sounds like almost constant gusts, there's very little let up.
