Hi, I'm hoping to arrange an appointment with the ENT hospital on Adelaide Road and am wondering what are the standard wait times to be seen etc.?

In my case it will hopefully result in a procedure to the nose, anyone have any idea how long I could be waiting for?

12-18 months for an appointment, up to three years for the procedure was the case when I last had access to good stats.

The RVH don't seem to be on Healthstat which means I can't check if that's the case still. When I last saw figures they made up the bulk of the 6% of patients in Dublin/East region waiting more than 12 months.

The Eye and Ear hospital have really long waiting lists, I applied (through GP) for an appointment in September 2012 and got an appointment for September 2014!!

You are better going to see consultant privately, and you can still go public for any procedures.

Not completely correct, you can attend both at the same time but cannot go private to "skip the queue" so wffectively it's one or the other. If going private all the procedures the private ENT arranges will be private.

Ok fair enough, I didn't need a procedure in the end, I spoke with someone in Eye and Ear about the situation and she explained that I could see consultant privately and then go back public if I needed a procedure. I asked specifically because I wouldn't have been able to afford a private procedure, I could only just about afford the one off consultation. Maybe she was mistaken.

This is not true, you can pay cash to see a consultant privately then be referred into the public system for a procedure if you need one. Generally speaking you then stay on his public list for post op visits. I have done this more than once.

Wow, 2-3 years is long, how much aroundabouts would it be if I went private?

Basically need to get my nose broken and reset, after being punched around a year ago. Bone is currently sticking out.

My ENTs private list ranges anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months depending on time of year (he is busier in summer and also takes hols then) and where you see him (he sits in a few different places) and he costs about 175 for new patient and 100 per appointment thereafter.

My daughter was referred privately and then transferred to the public clinic with cardiology.
