The apostrophe denotes possession: 'The nazi's gas chamber' - the gas chamber belonging to the nazi. No apostrophe is needed for the plural: 'The nazis are coming'.

Surely it would be the nazis' gas chamber. It belonged to all of them, rather than just one. They were all about sharing.

A nazi could have built a personal one in their shed at home. A gas chamber-ette, if you will. For gassing noisy neighbours.

Was a 40ish male in a Supervalue today taking all the dead bits off onions so they were cheaper when he did the self weighing thing..

He was weighing them, taking skin etc off, weighing them again and then printing the barcode.. For each onion..

After all his fannying about, he left the guts of one red onion all over the scales! If he only needed three onions why did he have to shred 4 to fit his "price"??

    Why!!

If you want to pay 7c for an onion go to one of the sweatshop German retailers.

Went out with a gang. Three of them own properties which are rented out besides having their own houses and all have good jobs and married into money. In a cocktail bar and it was expensive but they were top shelf liquors with decent ingredients properly mixed and well worth the price. I got like an Iced Tea or something which was about 12 euros but it was gorgeous. The three of them refused to buy a cocktail each but chose the cheapest one on the menu which was like 7 euro between them. Cue the three of them each getting a straw and sucking furiously on this small little glass.
Afterwards they refused to pay into a nightclub, instead opting for a late night bar because they wouldn't pay the 10 euros in. During the night my vodkas and cokes kept going missing. I found out later that they would wait for me to go dancing or whatever and steal my drink. Obviously after a few drinks you wouldn't cop on but I woke up after spending so much and I couldn't understand why. The ultimate in stinge. Furthermore we went to McDonald's and I got a Big Mac meal with coke and one of them refused to buy food but when I was eating the burger she ate the chips then drank the coke. She was starved but yet decided to scab what she could off me instead of buying her own food. To be honest like back when you're a kid sharing chips and stuff you'd laugh over it but these are very well off grown women.

The only part of this story I'd agree with is the nightclub. Not because of the money but the sheer principle of paying into a club that you're already going to be spending a ferocious amount of money in. Why should pay for the privaledge of spending money?

Taking into consideration the whole story do you not see the full picture? It's the principle of the situation. Like stealing drinks from someone you're with. They didn't want to spend ANY money at all. They didn't buy drinks so they weren't going to be spending more. These people are loaded completely but they'd take from someone who has less. Nobody in their right mind can condone that.

Doesn't sound like this trio would be spending all that much money though.

Ok... I'm not sure how you got that I'm condoning this. I just meant as a side note paying into a club is annoying, nothing to do with the story.

Completely agree that the whole story is ridiculous regardless of their wealth. Being tight is tight, stealing is stealing whether you've a million quid or nothing.

Nobody steals my chips when I'm hungry. Cause for murder there.

Yep. It's because of stingebags like this that there is a cover charge in the first place.

I have a mate who often boasts about never spending more than 25 quid on a night out, and he has often gotten very drunk. That is nothing to be proud of.

We have all heard the one about the group of people jumping into the taxi where one individual has no money and says nothing? Its amazing how quick they find money when everyone pays their share and the taxi driver says to the non payer 'Lets see what the Guards have to say'.

I have to say that I cut the huge stalks off broccoli when I am shopping, it might be stingy but I buy a lot of broccoli and it pains me to pay for it!!

Not stingy enough - should use one of the supermarket's own knives. After all, they're all there on display, ready to be used.

I hope that was the last time you went out with the bunch of tightwads. That's really shocking, embarrassing behaviour.

I remember some supermarkets used to have mini hack saws chained beside the broccoli where you could do this without feeling stingy.

Or was that just a dream lol

I'm not a great fan of broccoli or cauli stems, myself. I can empathise with the poster about that - I see no reason to pay for bits I won't eat and I object to the shop padding it out with those.

Im a chef in a pub. About 2 months ago I had a funeral for 80 for two course, soup and caesar salad starter and turkey & ham crowns or salmon for main. The guy who booked rang me about an hour before they were due to let me know the numbers had swelled to about 95. No problem I said, I have the stock. 30 turned up. The amount of waste was shocking. I was able to freeze the salmon but most of the turkey and ham ended up being thrown out. The owners wouldnt allow the staff to have it or allow me to sell it as a special. at least 40 crowns went in the bin that day

    WTF!

I don't know why people throw away the stalks of broccoli. If you peel the outer layer, what's inside is nutritious and delicious in a stir fry or how ever you chose to use it.

Cutting off the stalks of broccoli because you won't eat it, is the same as saying "I'm going to open this packet of bread and remove the ends because I don't eat the ends, so I don't see why I should pay for them".
