Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey, thanks for posting this correctly, as a question, usually people don't and it leads to excitement and confusion.

In response to your post, no, no news about those channels coming to Sky.

Whilst I would like the channels to be added myself, there is absolutely no panic with this. Reason-rarely any programmes in HD transmitted-Pity

With defence to Rte One HD, I had a reply by email dated 16th January simply stating no date had been confirmed yet, please keep an eye on the Sky website.

    Tg4 hd?

    TG4 HD, yes.

    Why the question mark? :)

    Not on Saorview

    UTV is not on Saorview.

It doesn't exist then? Strange, strange logic.

This place is surreal at times.

I've been getting emails from Jim Higgins about the Saorview and Saorsat advertising and promotions coming up, I very much doubt Sky will get TG4 HD before Saorview and Saorsat, now that they have the space.

I'd prefer ITV2, 3 and 4 in HD (like they have in the UK).

It says HD on the screen logo and having flicked between it and RTE1 on Saorview there is a big difference in pic quality :)

No HD logo with me, still 576i, channel 39 from Black Mtn. Mux doesn't have space for HD streams afaia, due to the robust transmission mode used.

Which UHF channel is it on for you?

Channel no. 16 with 1080i pic

    The ITV, BBC, Ch4, Ch 5, +1's etc are in order from no's. 1 - 15. Channels no;s 17 - 20 have all RTE test cards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,333 ✭✭✭✭muffler

Just to add that the following are the HD channels on Freeview in numerical order.

    1. UTV HD
    2. Channel 4 HD
    3. BBC 2 HD
    4. BBC NI HD
    5. BBC 3 HD
    6. CBBC HD

I meant the actual radio frequency channel or, just the frequency in mHz or kHz. (e.g. ch.39 centre freq. is 618 mHz.) Then I'll be able to tell you which Saorview transmitter it is coming from.

RTE1 HD is currently only on Saorview. If you have an SD Saorview version, the original must still be there, showing 'rescan required' in the programme info.

How do I get that info?

Did you have your New York Cop outfit on when you bu that out?

Ridiculous warning from an absolute clown of a Mod.

    Google Alsat.

You'd fit right in there quite easily as a mod.

You might need to go into the tuning menu or some receivers might show it with a press or 2 of the 'info' button.

All that really matters is that you're getting all the channels reliably.

You mean Saorview? RTE1 on Freeview (NI mini-mux) is transmitted in SD not HD.

    True :)

I just assumed it was being broadcast on Freeview as its mixed in with all the NI channels.

Its a new telly I bought just a month ago and the sequence of channels were the result of the installation scan.

Do you remember when it was posed that you'd have to pay for the HD ch & then RTE had a change of heart when i think it went this way, that someone casually mentioned that BBC HD is free when the World Cup was coming on soon :D

I'd say it was more like Sky thought they could put it in the HD pack until RTE told them to GTFO

So when is rte 1hd coming to sky? It's already on UPC and eircom...

    RTE likely told them nothing.
A number of people on here contacted Sky and reminded them that they cannot charge for RTE (hence it being in the basic pack).
After that failed, they then contact Comreg who gently reminded Sky of the same. Next day ... 115 came into being for those without the HD pack.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,621 ✭✭✭channelsurfer2

yep. I was one of those who contacted comreg and pointed out the fact that they cant charge for it over and above the basic pack. As to the question well I would say Sky will put them on when they feel they have a reason too. In other words when the can be bothered as they will have to allow RTE free carriage of them and give them valuable slots on the epg, which there is a queue for.

Presumably RTÉ One HD and UTV Ireland will be placed 115-120 which are unoccupied anyway - hardly any queue for those spots.

I'd imagine it should be at some stage this year-but heh whats the rush-I dont see many programmes in HD on RTE2 HD so I would imagine there would be even less on RTE1 HD unless they can somehow start showing movies in HD

No rush I suppose. It's only that my tv license part funds it so I would like to avail of it without the need to buy a new telly or box. :p
