Can anyone please help... I really need a photo of Clogs bar in Galway (it has closed down but I don't know when!!)

I have checked the facebook and memory pages here but they are mostly historical photos.

Also if anyone knows the name of the trad band who used to play there weekly...all I can remember is that the mandolin player was called Jim.

    Thankyou:)

What street was it on? Maybe if you search for the street instead you'll find photos that happen to have the bar in them, but it's not mentioned.

Hi...I'm not sure about the street...it has been 25 years since I was there but it was a regular haunt then! It was up a back alley somewhere down near Monroes.

I think there was a large fruit market near it...sorry all very vague but my memory is not the best ;)

I think it may have been something to do with ...unemployed providing bar for unemployed...only saw that somewhere since. We were vstudents at the time and only aware of the music and singsongs there.

There were barrels instead of tables and there was sawdust on the floor!! Can't remember much else:o

Clogs was Monroe's, or vicky verky, iirc.

My suggestion is to contact them directly, and my guess would be that they'd be interested or even delighted to help you out.

Clogs was down an alley which used to be between where Oscars Bistro and the Casino is now. The alley is no longer there since that stretch of street was redeveloped in the (late?) 90s.
Old Photos of Dominick St wouldn't show where it was, you'd need photos of the alleyway itself. Hmmmm, could be tricky
Good ol' Clogs, half barrels for sitting on, and sawdust on the floor.

Well that explains why I couldn't find the alley when I visited Galway recently!!

    Thankyou:)
