Battle of the Bands? Somewhere? Anywhere?

Myself and a few friends have been writing some original stuff and would like something like a battle of the bands to try it out in front of some people to see how it sounds live. Just a small one in a pub somewhere.

Are there any small ones around? Anywhere in the country really, or open mikes for bands? I have seen these in other countries, but I don't know if one exists here.

There's a guy called Keiron Black in Dublin who holds The King Kong Club nights quite regularly. He's usually very open to letting anyone play even if they've no gigs under their belt but the only catch is you only get three songs per band. Winner is decided with a clapometer but I wouldn't worry too much about that. Good place to start if you can't find anything else.

That's great! Never heard of that before but sounds like a great way to get started....although I see it's all recorded for youtube, so if you crash and burn it will never be forgotten

There's Live and Unsigned in The Pint aswell! Same type of deal more or less!

Great, how often/when is that on? I don't see anything about it on The Pint website.

It's not mentioned on the website, but there's a page on Facebook, I checked it there earlier, but doesn't seem to have been active for a while! So I'm not sure what the story is with that!
