On the great limerick run home page,go to participants
click full marathon,go to last page and multiply that bye 9.There's 9 entrants per page.

678, I thought there would be more given that last night was the deadline for those personalised race numbers.

There may be more as I think there was an option when registering if you wanted your name/profile to be public or not

    Maybe...

6,258 total over all races publicly visible on the site then.

Anyone else going in the 3:15 group? I won't miss the congestion from DCM.

Dr Q is pacing it and you might catch up with Ecoli :)

I might start with Q but hope not to finish with him!

Was waiting for that (although I was half expecting a reference to be made after this post but I guess the lads must be slipping :p)

To the best of my knowledge there are a few boardsies planning on running in the 3.15 group so there will certainly be company for you SS

In an ideal world I would do likewise but I suspect my training hasn't been good enough for a pb attempt. I'll know better after a 10k tomorrow.

Care to reveal your target, tbl?

Good luck with that. I ran with the 3:10 group in DCM but lost them at 20 miles.
By my reckoning you'd have to leave the group pretty early to gain 5 minutes unless you can finish like a train.

Apologies for not keeping up with your log.

I'm currently thinking of going through the half in 1.36, and take it from there.

When I've PB'ed in the marathon before I've always run a solid negative split.

That's the plan, last planned attempt went up in flames spectacularly however.

What are you looking to target?

Well, 3:12:xx would be a pb but I really don't think it's possible. I'll go with the 3:15 group and if I feel really strong I'll try to push on at 20 miles or so. More likely I'll be struggling to hang on.

My main objective was to put in a solid training block to build on for a more serious push in DCM this year.

I've never run a negative split so that'd be a novelty in itself.

Did the 6miler last year, looking at the half this time. Did Clon and it won't be a patch on that.

It's downhill a good chunk after the little loop in the Raheen Industrial estate along St. Nessans road. The bridge at the crescent is a nasty incline but not long.

The first 3 miles will be the worst for me, never take that route ever its a pure bore. Hill up to mile 9 near Thomond that's about it and a loop around the NCR.

Anyone one done the limerick marathon before? It's my first marathon and trying to get in under 3.30- training is going okay and just on a two week cool down now. Where will it hurt? Are their many hills in second half? WhT should I allow for negative second half ?

    Any advice is appreciated?
