I was recently told by someone that you can only visit or fly into the US once a year, due to security issues or something along those lines. I was also told you could fly into the US a few times a year for business purposes.

Is this true? Does anyone know about this for sure?

Nah.. You can fly in and out as much as you like for stays up to 90 days

The rule of thumb is to spend as much time outside of the US as you are inside the country. You'd raise suspicions if you were the country for 89 days, then came back 2 days later.

If you're coming for holiday a couple of times a year there isn't any issues.

I used to travel 5-6 times a year for long weekends, only got questioned once (and still allowed in).
