You can plant a hedge anytime of year, although the early spring is probably the best and least expensive time to plant for most varieties of hedge.

If you are planting bare root then now is a good time. If you are planting container grown then you can plant any time, though I would suggest spring or autumn would still be best.

I collected laurel hedging from this guy between maynooth and clane yesterday: Tom McIntyre Landscaping & Nursery
great size plants and good value.
