Hi, we've read up on this a bit but i'd like to see if anyone has any information on it here.

Basically, we've been moving back and forth between here and the US to be with each and we're finally ready to live together. Can she live here with me permantly? She won't be reliant or a burden on the state and has no convictions etc. She's also college educated.

If there's any difficulty will getting married help her remain in the state? It wouldn't be a fraudulent marriage because we intend to get married anyway, we'd just be doing so earlier than was planned; And in any case, we'd remain married for life. (Or atleast we intend to, like all legitimate newly-weds)

We don't have any babies yet. She wants to reside her permantly. We'll be retting a house or flat or probably but less likely staying in my fathers house untill we get on our feet.

Basically, we love each other alot and want to live together permantly. We just don't want to go rushing down the aisle just yet. She will ask nothing from the state and will be a burden to none. We're really happy about this so I hope it's not too difficult. Our plans are to get married in the US so her family can attend, so it'd be a shame to get married here.

Thank you to all who respond and I couldn't think of a more suitable forum for this type of question as the law regulates such issues but if the mod wants to move it. feel free.

Spouses and civil partners of Irish nationals; family members of EEA citizens; Convention and Programme refugees; parents of Irish citizen child granted leave to remain on that basis. They do not need an employment permit or business permission to work.

You could have a simple registry office ceremony here and now, do the big fancy religious wedding with all the relatives later on?

That's the plan; If it's incredibly difficult for her to reside her and gain privledges to work etc. we're going to have a simple registry office type marriage with my parents and one or two close friends, then have a formal ceremony in the states where anyone who wishes too attend can do so. It's not ideal for us to have to get married so quickly but we've been together long enough and we're both more or less on a long-term engagement. We've promised to marry each other and be together forever.

Has anyone ever went trough this before? How did it work out for yas?

There are loads of people who have got a stamp 4 permission based on de facto relationship. You can do it yourself or get a solicitor to apply.

I did 2 years ago but we had gotten married abroad. The key is preparation. We began preparing years before applying. The biggest challenge is proof of relationship if the Irish embassy in the US require it. There is loads of info on what exactly you need on various websites so Google is your friend right now. Essentially you have to prove beyond all doubt that it is a genuine relationship. Best of luck.
