Dublin 8: West of Clanbrassil St

Have never lived in the area in Dublin 8 bounded by SCR, Clanbrassil St (to east) and Donore Ave (to west) - seems quite nice but there's also a few derelict buildings and I've seen mention on fixmyarea about street drinkers. Anyone got any thoughts/advice? P.
