    Yep.

There is nothing wrong with Evra going forward, he's quite effective actually and links up so well with Adnan, but his desire to track back is so bad that I would be screaming at him if he was playing 5-a-side with me on Tuesday nights, so in the Premier League it's not nearly good enough.

Valencia will cross and make chances, but his transition play in moving from defence to attack is maybe the worst I've ever seen. He dwells on the ball so long that the other team can get back, get organised, and have a little meeting to discuss what to do if a variety of scenarios occur, then he just drills it low.

I feel like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally, saying "YES YES YES", after reading that.

Who needs the Champions League? Mid-season friendlies against Abu Dhabi FC, that's where the real glory is.

Sweet music to my ears, :) planning for no EL.
United are working on a loss of around £20m for failure to play in either of Uefa's club competitions and believe playing friendlies overseas during the gap in their schedule will help recoup a sizeable proportion of this.

So umm start betting against United, if you haven't already? :pac:

Raphael Honigstein, who imo is very reliable, says Moyes has completely lost the dressing room.

Haha I could have went on ESPN and told them that for half the price yer man did!

Not a dig at you starship by the way, just seems everything Raphael mentioned is unfortunately quite evident for all to see, barring his apparent insider knowledge of course.

Usually a rising situation will always be much worse than those who are trying to control it will let on it is publically, for many reasons right or wrong. But something is seriously bubbling within the inner sanctum of Old Trafford and I honestly feel that every game is a 'must win' for Moyes now.

I know it always was a 'must win' scenario ideally for us the fans, but now I think David Moyes must win each match to save his own skin. He is out there on the limbest of limbs, with some heavy fixtures ahead, and he has absolutely no significant good to fall back on and shine a light on positive areas to argue his case should we lose the bulk of them. His work off the field cannot be denied, securing Fellaini, Mata, Rooney, Januzaj and Nani to contracts (but then subsequently 'disappearing' Nani:confused:) and he obviously puts serious effort into first-hand scouting of potential targets.

However on the field, there is nothing to fall back on. Not even the ability to say 'well at least he has us beating the teams we should be beating anyway'. That's why I feel going into March now, that this is the turning point. As in he will either save his job until the summer at least, or home defeats in any 2 of the Olympiakos, City and Liverpool matches could see Ryan Giggs (or any interim 'manager') in charge until the summer.

If it is true that he has completely lost the dressing room though, I can't see any way back for him.

This is absolutely disgraceful if true. The club should be focussing on getting back into the champions league, not whoring themselves out to the highest bidders.

Playing this game could have been a caveat of one of those whopper commercial deals.

Doubt if its something that has just on offer.

Hardly, I doubt people were thinking United would be free midweek to play friendlies.

Not sure where your getting that notion from, the story is about recovering lost CL revenue though these friendlies.
Why would that have anything to do with commercial deals made other the post few years ?

Very poor attempt at putting a negative spin on our commercial business which is still league's ahead of everyone else.

There's a difference to gaining great sponsorship deals and doing the odd tv advert to going out to the middle\far east during the season to play games

I see what you are getting at and I wouldn't be a huge fan Uniteds unrelenting focus on commercialisation.

But now it would appear that aspect of the club is going to directly impact on the squad.

Not a hope, when deals are made I highly doubt a game is a stipulation.

Miguel Delaney has a piece wrote about the prospect of life after Moyes. He has Van Gaal behind Klopp in the list. I would not be against that. Its not a long term replacement but even 2 years under Van Gaal and then possibly Guardiola or Klopp being available would be perfect.

Hand on heart, I don't know much about him, so I really can't say if I'd like him or not (my colours are nailed firmly to the Klopp sail).

BUT....looking at his record, at least he has success at numerous top teams.

    Ajax
    Eredivisie: 1993–94, 1994–95, 1995–96
    KNVB Cup: 1992–93
    Johan Cruijff Shield: 1993, 1994, 1995
    UEFA Champions League: 1994–95
    UEFA Cup: 1991–92
    UEFA Super Cup: 1995
    Intercontinental Cup: 1995

    Barcelona
    La Liga: 1997–98, 1998–99
    Copa del Rey: 1997–98
    UEFA Super Cup: 1997

    AZ
    Eredivisie: 2008–09

    Bayern Munich
    Bundesliga: 2009–10
    DFB-Pokal: 2009–10
    DFB-Supercup: 2010

    Awards and achievements
    Rinus Michels Award: 2007, 2009
Dutch Sports Coach of the Year: 2009
Die Sprachwahrer des Jahres (3rd place): 2009
German Football Manager of the Year: 2010

He certainly has a stronger resume than Moyes.

EDIT: Also like this quote from recently...

"“I am a winner and craving a trophy. This is why I am sick of being a national coach. I only see the players eight times a year. I am not enjoying the job of national coach at all.

“After the World Cup I want to coach a big club again and win trophies. Otherwise I will retire.”"

Makes a change from what we hear out of the mouth of our manager,"I hope,a bit of luck,we have to try, maybe".

If we assume Klopp, Simeone, and Conte are unavailable and Guardiola is only 1 year into a 3 year contract at Bayern then Van Gaal would be a reasonable option for me.

At this stage I'd rather any decent short term manager than Moyes. I love Jurgen Klopp and I would want United to move heaven and Earth for him but if it turned out to be Van Gaal I'd be pleased.

You're all forgetting what Ferguson told us just before he retired. It's important that we stick by our new manager. Do you think he would have said this if he thought everything was going to be rosy straight away? If Moyes is sacked then we are just like Chelsea or City one of these other clubs who have no sense of building and preserving a culture of success but just want to pay a premium for winning right now.

Just remember you are like the people holding the banners up for Ferguson to be sacked shortly after he became manager. Give it until Christmas next season and then we will know with certainty what needs to be done.

    I'm with the chosen one!

This is been said for 1000th time here

Ferguson took over a club that was in 21st place, a pub team, full of alcos.

He took over a team in crisis. He brought a team outside the The Old Firm to European final and beat a team called Real Madrid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,857 ✭✭✭Valmont

I'd rather the board forced half the team to resign tbh. They are forgetting another one of Ferguson's dictums: nobody is bigger than the club. He leaves and half of them stop bothering to put any effort in like little spoiled children. It is a good job they are paying Rooney £300,000 a week because he is doing the work of three players out there at the moment.

Cleverley couldn't even sweep the dressing room floor. He'd just sweep all the dirt sideways and backwards.
