Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The only thing with mobiles coming out of Chinese etc warehouses is that they will have Chinese apps installed and won't have Play Store on them and Google are blocking them being added on anymore more.

It's fairly easy to get it on to them, but I plan on wiping one anyway, and maybe giving the other to my Niece or using it for something else.. ;)

Wouldn't worry about it being Chinese. Still have the excellent Jiuyu G3 as recommended here last year. Batteries still great and phone working brill. It is easy to replace the firmware and install Google Play etc on Android at least. Only concerns are mixed reviews for this website and a small battery but very cheap if it's a legit deal.

I've used focalprice before, and never had a problem. That's not to say I wouldn't have one if I used them often.
They are trustworthy, but like all of the Chinese sites, lengthy delivery, they do get complaints.
Yes, battery is small unortunately, but for the price, I'm going to go for it.

If anything, I'm guessing it may be a misprice, but it's also possible that they may be selling them off..

Don't think it is a mis-price.Do a search for 4in smartphones. On page 3 of that search the phone pops up. Described as "80% off. Was $100.00. Now $19.99. They have another less-specced phone on that phone for $9.99:).

Before ye all get giddy and throw your money away these are only 2G GSM phones, there are not capable of receiving 3G or Edge signal from any Irish mobile network.
Don't waste your money, you'll have crap reception and crap internet.

Cant believe how good my G3 is still going, still have the second battery that came with it and I never needed it, still great life out of the first one. Screen still great, never crashes or anything, just wish the GPS wasn't so cack on it now that I have a car.

I'd be very wary of buying anything off Focalprice.

Got a tablet off them last summer which was superficially identical to what I'd ordered, but when I dug a bit deeper it was a slower CPU, less memory, and less internal storage. Build quality was dire, glass doesn't even fully cover the display, so the edges are hidden under the surrounding bezel.
Assumed it was a genuine error at first, but after they fobbed me around for ages through their support chat it was fairly obvious they were just trying to wait out the Paypal claim period.

Ended up having to do a chargeback, and from googling at the time I certainly wasn't the only one they'd fobbed off with a substandard item.

Thats not the one in the OP. That has only 256mb ram. Ok as a back-up for calls & texts.

On a side note DX are out of stock. but they are flogging it at $92.

Guys, as has already stated about Chinese suppliers, there will be at least a 4-week delivery period. Add to that an extra week as the Chinese New Year holidays which go on till Friday iirc. So expect your phones around Paddy's Day:).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,644 ✭✭✭✭punisher5112

Just bought the 3g one for €15 will do as spare for me.

Well I spent an hour searching for a case on Focalprice. Nothing came up. I suppose if we could find out what that phone is based on/or a copy of what, we could search more accurately.

Edit: If you do a search on DX, you will get a choice of 3 generic faux leather cases, all for around $7.00

As I asked before, how do you know that. When you go into the list of phones, it clearly says "80% off" Now the possibility of it being a return/secondhand is always there..........

Original showing at $100.19 now :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,402 ✭✭✭nxbyveromdwjpg

Looks like both are gone - now listing at $70 and $100 respectively

I actually bought one of each last night, confirmed on paypal, but then closed the laptop - opened it this morning to see that there was another confirmation needed after that.
It had expired but I still managed to get it through luckily for the original price as thats what was in my cart.

I only bought it to see what its like and to play around with it. Possibly use it as a music player so not the end of the world if I don't get it

People seem sure that it's not a misprice because it was marked 80% off, it's probably an automatic thing that the discount is calculated and shown as x% off, so that doesn't mean anything..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,890 ✭✭✭tomdempsey200

mine are showing paid and unpacked:)

how soon before you'd know the deal has fallen through?
and how long before refund to paypal?

  • Registered Users Posts: 592 ✭✭✭theintern

Apparently this just means it's paid, hopefully it'll pop up shipped at some point in the next day or two..
