New Graphics Card

Howdy folks!

Just looking for some advice on upgrading my GPU. I'm currently running an ageing EVGA Gtx 460 and am finding it simply isn't cutting it anymore with new and newish games. I'm planning on upgrading the rest within the next 4-5 months but wouldn't mind getting a new gpu now, so I can actually play Bf4 and Rift with decent fps!
Rest of my pc's specs are: i5 760 (not oced), 4GB of RAM, and a Gigabyte H55M-UD2H.
Also have an Akasa Venom CPU cooler; if I do decided to OC.

Would like to keep the price of the GPU under €200, as I was thinking of throwing in another 4GB of RAM.

Would preferably like an Nvidia GPU, as I've always found them fantastic

I'd go with an AMD R9 270. It's the best price/performance card in that price range. With mantle being supported and the fact you are using an older processor you should get very significant fps gains with mantle in BF4. You should overclock the cpu as well and definitely get another 4gb of ram.

Just been reading reviews of the card and it seems to be the best bang for buck card out atm, outclassing its nearest Nvidia rival the GTX 660. Already have BF4 but it's well priced at just over €160!

Would you have any recommendations for 2 x 2gb RAM sticks or a 4gb stick?

Whatever matches your old ram. It doesn't have to be the same brand but try match the speed, timings and voltage. If you have 2x2gb already get another 2x2gb. If you have 1x4 get another 1x4.

Yeah the card is crazy good value. I've used 3 of them now and tested them with some games with an fx-6300 processor. It was handling BF4 multiplayer at 1080p with 60fps on high settings.

With mantle you might be able to push it even higher.

Same RAM I'm using at the moment, and it's still going strong after three years so I'll settle for these!

Seeing as I already have BF4 I'd be tempted to go for the 270x with the negligible price difference!

The cards are virtually the same. The 270x is just clocked a little higher. You could overclock the 270 to the same or higher again.

If you want to go with the 270x it's a little cheaper on pixmania. Also free delivery.

Went with the 270x, and it arrived today! Installation went smoothly and the card is recognised and working fine.

But, when I connect my older monitor to the card, using a vga to dvi adapter I get a yellow tint across the screen; like the colour calibration is all off. When using the hdmi connection on a different monitor, it's absolutely perfect, but I've tried the dvi connection using two different vga leads, two different vga to dvi adapters and two different monitors, and am still getting this annoying yellow tint.

Even though I'll be using the hdmi full time, I'm still worried about this issue. I've googled fixes but to no avail, and no other people seem to be having this issue with the 270x.

Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated!

I'd imagine it has something to do with the leads or monitor. VGA is dead and very susceptible to interference.
