Daragh Rainsford pissed me off the other night. 80 minutes gone and he's barely on the pitch and he won't even close down the goalie who's in no rush to get rid of it. Unforgivable laziness, in fairness to Clarke he ran his bollox off and he had no support from midfield either. Robbie Williams thinking he's Roberto Carlos shooting a volley from 35 yards that almost led to a Bray goal was frustrating too.

Thought we deserved to go in winning at half time. Played some good football at time but our defence is a shambles.

I've been saying it for ages Rainsford has no business in the League of Ireland at any level nevermind the premier. The fact they have given him an extension to his deal is baffling.

A few of us coming down from galway on Saturday for the game.where's good for parking? Doesn't need to be very near the ground, happy to walk.

Summer St. Car Park your best bet for off road secure parking. Only 5 minutes from The Markets Field.

Other than that you could Park down town and stroll up. The Markets Field is only 10 mins walk from most of town.

Can't wait for the Galway game, it's gunna be tough. When Galway started to play on Tuesday night they looked very impressive. Something has to go our way sooner rather than later.

If Galway get going like they did at stages against Dundalk we are in for a good beating. Seems like no signings in before it either for us.

    Limerick 2-4 Galway

    (Faherty, Turner)

1-1 at half time, after Vinny Faherty's header from a corner cancelled out an early Galway goal. It was an even first half and we had a bit of shape and purpose about us.

But we predictably and pathetically crumbled in the second half - we were under extreme pressure for most of it as our midfield disintegrated, and if it hadn't been for keeper Tommy Holland it could have been much worse. Once Galway finally got the lead, they got two more in quick succession. A late penalty from Turner after he'd been brought down was no consolation.

Sean Russell lasting 90 minutes is a disgrace (as is him being anywhere near the team at all). Special mention for the ref Graham Kelly who was useless beyond belief.

Next league game, away to Derry on Friday 17th July.

Next game: Friendly against MK Dons next Tuesday. Kickoff 7pm.

    What was the attendance?

    650

How Russell is on the pitch is a mystery, infact how is he allowed on any pitch other than carrying water is a mystery.

Holland was outstanding in goal, he can hold his head high and sleep well tonight.

I haven't got the opportunity to head to any games this year (yet), it would be a real embarrassment if we finished the year winless.

We actually have a team capable of winning games in my opinion but the manager is refusing to set the team up to grind out a result.

I could not make it to the game tonight, the other half was working late. Was there a good attendance?

This is a fact, there was little bits against Galway where we looked impressive. Some lovely play. It's almost there.....

I may be slated for this but maybe a change of manager to freshen it up.... It's not far away....

    Limerick 1-1 MK Dons

Friendly at Markets Field (I was not at the game) - MK Dons scored after 32 minutes.

They substituted all 11 players during the 2nd half. I don't know if they ended with a much weaker team, but Dean Clarke equalised 2 minutes from time.

Even if it is just a friendly, it snaps a result of 9 straight defeats.

The Boss man came out after the match, did an auld speach imploring fans to keep coming out to games, support the club, asking players to have pride in their badge etc. Saying the underage structures are paramount to the clubs future success etc.

Then licked the hole of MK Dons for a while. I ****ing hate MK Dons.

I saw 400-500 mentioned on Twitter last night but nothing official.

This is all? Wow that is a bad turn out for a championship team.
There was 650 at the Galway game.

Every junior soccer team in Limerick is back in pre-season and 90% of them are training on a Tuesday and Thursday night. Was an awful night for a game.

I see.... Tbh it was a horrible night for it alright!

Maybe everyone else hates the idea of Mk Dons too.

With Limericks new underage policy, all Limerick junior and schoolboy teams and mentors will be staying clear of Markets field,Relations weren't great between ldmc and Limerick but now the county and desmond schoolboys and juniors are learning to walk away from the Lims,Pat os needs to grow a pair and get rid of some of his muppets who are advising him.

Are you on about Limerick going through every club in the county and stealing their best underage players?

Limerick came out with a statement that following open trials for the league of ireland u17 team,(which there was serious talent at)they were not picking any players who went for trials only players that play with Limerick u15 and u16 team and no player in the future would be looked at unless he played for Limerick up along thus trying to force or even blackmail young players into signing for Limerick fc at u15s/u16s and sweeping all before them domestically, don't think they will be too popular in the district county or desmond leagues but Pat and his muppets know best.

That whole thing with the 17s trials is a farce tbh

O'Donnell has departed by 'mutual content'..

    No real harm there..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57 ✭✭niceview

To be fair about hte underage set up, if Limerick took players from the trial for the U 17s team they would be accused of robbing all the talent at that age group. It's a no win really.

O'Donnell is no loss but it shows How ridiculous it was starting him all season and now letting him go halfway through.

It wouldn't be robbing players, the u17s is league of Ireland,if players are good enough they should be encouraged to attend and better themselves but by restricting this to Limerick u15 and u16 players that play in the district league they leave themselves open to a few hidings, which might have to happen for the muppetts to see sence.

Well hopefully the club do see sense on the issue as it has upset a lot of fans.

    Derry 0-0 Limerick

Limerick keep their first clean sheet of the season and break an 8-game losing streak with a point in the Brandywell. I wasn't at it, but it sounds like it was a decent performance in the second half after being under pressure in the 1st. Anyway, we earned what is hopefully a valuable point.

Next week's game against Shamrock Rovers is postponed as they are playing in Europe, so the next game seems to be:

Home to Sligo Rovers, Saturday, August 1st.
