Hi,
I am looking to buy a new tv. I'm not sure whether to bother with a smart tv as I already have an apple tv and also I heard smart tvs are never updated so can be obsolete fairly quickly. Also are they just geared for the UK market? Budget around €500ish

I think size wise it will be 39/40" (don't like TV to dominate the room although then again room is large).
My trusty sony lcd tv is still going after nearly 9 yrs so I like sonys :)

Although good reviews for samsungs and lg also.
If I end up going for the smart tv which brand is better (I hear lg faster than samsung)

Can you price the following tvs and give your opinion (delivery to dublin)

lg-39ln575v
SAMSUNG UE40F5000
LG 42LN578V

SAMSUNG UE39F5500

or are there others you would recommend....
Thanks  :D

Hi lyoness.

Apple TV is a good little product which can do some of the functions of a smart TV, but in some cases, not all the same features are on both.

There are regular firmware updates for smart TV's so I would not say that smart TV's go out of date. It tends to be the opposite as they keep adding / changing features on them.

The LG system can operate slightly faster than the Samsung but the Samsung has the likes of RTE player which at the moment the LG does not have.

The LG39LN575 is priced at £399.95 but unfortunately we do not ship this model so it would need to be collected from the store.

The Samsung model that we stock is the Samsung Ue40F5500 which is priced at £449.95. Delivery of this would be £19.95 and it comes with a 5 year warranty.

We don't stock the 39" Samsung.

The best buy is definitely the 40" samsung 5500.

Hope that helps but let us know what you think.

ATB
