    The thread title may not be totally representative of the content but it's the best I could come up with

    I'm doing a level 8 BSc and I've been wondering which grades actually count when it comes to distinguishing between a 1st, 2:1 etc.

    Is it GPA or do you need to have gotten above a certain mark in every module?
    Furthermore, I've heard people say that the first year doesn't count towards it but I don't know if that's the case with a 4 year course.

    Any help would be appreciated :)

    It's your GPA and at least for my course it starts "counting" in 3rd year.
