Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Feckin miserable conditions for this - lashing rain and wind.

Will be interesting to see what the attendance is as it looks like a decent crowd in the stand, especially given the conditions.

Benny Coulter a late addition to the bench for Down

Making lads stand still for the National Anthem on a night like tonight is a just cruel.

Armagh have a strong win and have kicked 2 wides inside 50 seconds.

What I find amazing is that I haven't heard of anyone complaining about playing an inter-county match on a Friday evening, with work commitments etc. Yet, when Laois and Carlow played a qualifier on a Friday last year (in more favourable, summery weather) it sparked huge debate!

Yeah a bit strange all right.

    Armagh 1-3 Down 0-3 HT

Conditions playing a massive part, with the strong wind in Armagh's favour and a bar of soap of a ball.

Down were really struggling to get out of their own half for very long periods and only got 2 points very late on. While Armagh lead I don't think they will be happy especially with their conversation rate - I think they kicked 3 balls into the keepers hands plus has somewhere around 5/6 wides. It was a nice move for the goal by Armagh.A fair few mistakes on both sides and Down were very hampered because they had to run the ball constantly and the slippy balls made for mistakes.

Conditions making things very tough and it's definitely not a classic.

Can see this being tight all the way to the end.

Down get the win late on with a late goal 2-7 to 2-5.

Armagh got a very fortunate goal when a ball hoofed in the direction of the square hopped and deceived the keeper. It looked like that would be enough to see Armagh home but Down got a goal late on to claim the 2 points.

There was 1 black card, a red for an off the ball and a number of yellows. Black card looked to be the correct call for a stupid trip. One of the yellows were a bit baffling - looked to be one very soft one. Red was an umpire decision off the ball. Game wasn't especially dirty but conditions just made things messy and I really wouldn't be too harsh on the ref.

On the balance Down probably just about deserved the win overall but the conditions made things a bit of a lottery.

Can see the Friday night experiment continuing but hopefully the next time there is a game on a Friday night it won't be in such poor conditions.

    Great having a Friday match.

Friday night games will only be a feature of games between neighbours. But many people work in Dublin or elsewhere in the country and this time does not suit. It is especially pointless in early February when there isn't a lot of club action etc.

    Quite.
