    Hi all,

Looking for thoughts and advice on the Ouya.

Has anyone used it for xbmc. If so what are your thoughts.

Also what's it like for movie playback, MKV etc.

Finally, anyone have any thoughts on emulation on it.

    Many thanks,

    Whackball

PS am posting in the Android forum also to get more feedback.

Its a great device once you get it setup right.

Use SPMC instead of stock XBMC - http://ouyaforum.com/showthread.php?8220-SPMC-Koying
Replace default launcher with Baxy - http://ouyaforum.com/showthread.php?4436-BAXY-Custom-Launcher
Use the Tegra overclock app to ramp up the CPU to full capacity

RC11 remote works great as well - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009FQZDPC/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have it around a month now and it took a while to get it right. Its a great bit of kit to be fair. Never crashes and performance is flawless.

I dont use it for gaming so not sure about emulators.

I bought one about a month ago as well but I side loaded the Gotham 13.1 nightly build of XBMC on it and I haven't had any problems with it , it seems to play any file format . Like mccard I don't use it for gaming and tbh I never intended to , but I was a little disappointed that it wasn't more like the standard Android phones and tablets and supporting of the Play Store . I also didn't bother overclocking it because as a media player it doesn't need it . I already had a raspberry Pi for XBMC but my wife and daughter found it to complicated to just throw on and watch an episode of this or that on a USB key or whatever but they find the OUYA easier to negotiate around . I love what XBMC offers in terms of information , as in loads of movies and TV series on a hard drive and no one needs to ask " have I seen this , or whats this about" so I am going to sell the Raspberry Pi on Adverts and but a 3TB drive for this .

I don't understand why the XBMC on the Pi is any more complicated in use than XBMC on the Ouya .......

Is not the user interface identical?

Your guess is as good as mine and I am more than happy for you to come over and explain that to my wife and daughter cause I was blue in the face from trying to .
