Defo Monterey bay and Carmel are on the to do lists, originally had booked a place in Monterey but guys found someone cheaper in Pacific Grove - and since all we'll be doing is sleeping in the spot - made some sense.

I dont know whether this is something you'd be into but in Mid August there's a Massive historic car festival in Monterey and Pebble Beach.

The Historic races at Laguna Seca racetrack and the Concours D'elegance in Pebble Beach are world class events.

This is a great view spot right in the City. Twin Peaks. You'll need to get a cab up there though. And its brilliant at night.

Fantastic view from there but exercise caution. There's been robberies up there quite frequently and one murder last week. There were police parked up there when I was up there a couple of weeks ago.

What else are musts in San Fran (bear in mind we wont have car in San Fran)

Not really a must, just a general recommendation - if you ever get the craving for Italian food in San Fran, the North Beach area is a must. Loads of
great restaurants and pubs with a great buzz.

Also if you're there on a Thursday evening, the Exploratorium science museum on pier 15 has a $15 entry after 6pm (as opposed to $30 normally) and they serve beer and cocktails in there, adults only at that time. Great fun.

just on the car front guys, I read that any additional drivers over 2 are free under California law, is it just a case of telling them when we pick up the car whose going to drive or does any paper work need to be done before then?

Tell them when you pick up, they'll have to take copies of the licenses at the rental place.
