Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Big let off for crusaders as the guy that nailed everything from the touchline misses a pretty straightforward pen. 31:33.

wow. what a pass and try

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 841 ✭✭✭Journeyman_1

Another super try! 2 or 3 people he could have given that to to score.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Terrible decision by Slade covered by a wonderful pass!

He he. From thescore.ie re Bundee Aki "the 24-year-old centre has been in excellent form for Waikato Chiefs this season."

Um, that would be the 80 minutes he played today...

The good ol' choke tackle there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

There's an intercept in this for Crusaders. Cheetahs very loose as they chase a score.

    Thats the game!

5 points. Yay! Chiefs in Hamilton next week, though. I'd actually rate us a chance, Chiefs have been flattering to deceive, and Cruden will still be out.

Great defence by Force I would say Cheika went on some rant after the game, Cummins looks like a 70s porn star!
Cheika took some stick re folau but it seems the decision was out of his and the tahs hands. Really missed him tonight though. His pace and class under some high balls tonight could have made a difference.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Jayzus. Le Roux has been really sloppy and inaccurate with his passing and judgement at first receiver.

Been quite impressed by Cheetahs lock. He's the sort of guy Leinster should be targeting that wouldn't break the bank. 6'7", 124kg and gets around the park.

Tahs starting to stutter a bit. Which is their usual tendency unfortunately. Fairplay to the Force and Cummins with his 3 meatpies. It's a pretty intriguing comp this season I must say, even if the quality is taking some time to appear.

More like it from the Crusaders

Does anyone have any knowledge of Folau's injury, was meant to be playing yesterday, club docs passed him fit to play, but the ARU pulled him out & he may be unable to play for 6 months.
I've heard a throat injury, but why the huge difference between club & national doctors does anyone know?

    So...

This weekend's match-ups have a couple of spicy local derbys: on Friday the Canes take on the Blues. And on Saturday, the Chiefs face the somewhat resurgent Crusaders. Providing he's not rotated out of the side, new Connacht signing and potential future Ireland inside centre Bundí O'Akí should also be on display.

Ihaia West has been signed by the Blues to replace the out-for-the-season Baden Kerr, we won't see him this week, but maybe at some point in the comp, he has looked very good at ITM level.

And I hope Folau is allowed to play, I've been suffering withdrawal symptoms these last few weeks.

Just like in Ireland, International players are paid by the union. Waratahs would then top up his wages but his central contract rests with the ARU, so they have final say over injuries, especially with the Rugby Championship 4 months away, they are exerting their right to look after their player, much to the dismay of Tahs and Chieka.

The IRFU have a closer relationship with the likes of Leinster, so if say SOB was injured and wanted to come back, IRFU would first have to agree that he's fit. The problem with the Tahs was their was no discussion, either with the player or Tahs, and he was just pulled from the squad after analysis of his injury.

The sooner he's back the better, easily the most exciting player to watch in years.

    Explained a bit beter HERE

Canes butcher a try woefully and then TMO denies them later in the move.

Not a bad game entertainment wise but not up to much in terms of good play. Someone like Savea could easily cut loose with the sloppy play on show.

Good call by the Blues to go for the try

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Have my doubts about that Canes try but it stands and the Canes have turned it around now leading 27-17.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,599 ✭✭✭matthew8

Gee it's pretty hard to get a try disallowed for a forward pass in this league.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

No idea how that was given. The ball appeared to slip clearly off his fingers and go forward miles. The arm movement was backwards but he released the ball poorly and it slid out of his hand a split second sooner than he wanted. It must have been 3 yards forward.

    Bonus point for the Canes

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,718 ✭✭✭Taco Corp

ok, did one of the commentators in Rebels game just (think Sharpe) say "he's a big hoor there's no doubt about that"?

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Force play and knock on a restart that dropped way short of 10m. Bizarre.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,599 ✭✭✭matthew8

And now they kick the kickoff short and the Rebels will probably get another penalty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Rebels should win the game from here.

Cummins gets his meat pie to earn the Force a valuable losing bonus point.

    Chiefs v crusaders on now.
    Saders 3 - 0 up after 4 mins.

    Expecting a cracking game! !!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,817 ✭✭✭b.gud

    Crusaders up 9-3 now.

    Come on Connacht Chiefs

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,817 ✭✭✭b.gud

Bird sin binned for leading with the shoulder. Chiefs convert the penalty.
    9-6 now

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,863 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

Very hard hitting game. Three concussion tests already.
    9 all

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,817 ✭✭✭b.gud

Level now. Reid, and chiefs scrum half both off for concussion test

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,817 ✭✭✭b.gud

Reid failed concussion test, Dagg looking uncomfortable,Bird out of the sin bin and chiefs have just taken the lead 12-9

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,817 ✭✭✭b.gud

Try for chiefs from Tom Marshall. Conversion missed.
Half time score 17-9 to the chiefs.
The last 10/15 mins have been all chiefs

Well, an absorbing first half. If you're a Connacht fan, Aki only touched the ball twice, the Chiefs using a lot of 10 => 13, and TNW seems to have a roaming 1st receiver role too.

Why did the Crusaders let Tom Marshall go??

My team need to score first after the break, once again it looks like Nadolo +/- Dagg is the only back who might threaten.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,415 ✭✭✭Swiwi.

And in other news I've convinced the other half to leave in 40 minutes!

    :)

The yellow card really seems to have been the changer in the game. It looked like Crusaders were in charge before that.

Chiefs camped on Crusaders line, excellent defence from Crusaders to win a penalty

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Fantastic defence but the policing of the ruck was non-existent. Should have been two or three penalties.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,415 ✭✭✭Swiwi.

Loving the saders defence, keeping us in the game. Has colin slade had half his ear ripped off?

    It really is top notch.
I noticed that about Slade but I'm really not familiar with most super rugby players so I thought it might have been pre existing

Slade is now a bionic man, with multiple bits of metal in him, especially his jaw which he fractured twice.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,817 ✭✭✭b.gud

17-15 now slade has had 2 penalties hit the post now.
    Aki off now

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,817 ✭✭✭b.gud

    Crusaders up 18-17 now
