Seriously getting worried about driving to work in an hour. Wind is scary here.

Gusts have really got going here in south East Kerry.
Was up around 4am checking here and there was barely a puff of wind.
As much as i love a good storm i am worried about this and rightfully so.

Nasty enough in Cork harbour. Guesstimate about 70-80% of other winter storms at their peak - and we ain't even started yet.

Maybe I should take a lift from my dad....

Net Zero means we are paying for the destruction of our economy and society in pursuit of an unachievable and pointless policy.

    Just got this.....macroom cork

In Kilmurry near Macroom. Very strong wind and rain for the past hour. Water blowing in under the front door. Already as bad as anything we've seen here this winter.

Are you exposed to westerly winds there?

What mystical material is this jeep made of ?

Would a jeep not be more high sided and so more chance of it being blown all over the place ?

Are you exposed to westerly winds there?

    Well inland,But yes.
Our only cover is East and North.
Fairly exposed from the west given the elevation.

Any idea how long this bombardment will last for the poor souls in kerry?! You reckon it will be over in a day or two?

Just drove from Cork City to Fermoy. While there is a lot of heavy rain and a lot of surface water it did not feel very gusty. But I am guessing the wind was behind me rather than from the side. No cross winds when I crossed over the flyover in Fermoy which is very exposed. If I were you all I would go to school/work earlier rather than later.

I did however take it very easy and drove way lower than my normal speed.

Ok wind is CRAZY here now

Agree Ludo, and it's not really violent storm potential at this stage either! It's going to happen!

I hope so, Jaysus this one is shaping up to be awful.

Can't believe I booked a hotel for the misses and me this weekend! Typical.
Feel sorry for you guys down the south, hopefully it passes without too much misery!

Thread is prefaced with a level 3 warning. Clarified in title that Dublin is level 2 not 3.

Fairly windy and raining heavily here. The winds should ease here at noon and around afternoon should start picking up dramatically according to the latest HIRLAM forcecast.

This is a great site, showing the wind sharply increasing in the last hour or so.
