Winds insanely strong in Limerick city. Saw some of the roof of the Maldron Hotel peel off earlier. Also saw a photo on Twitter of debris from an old building having destroyed a '12 BMW in Mallow St.

Extremenly gusty now, with snow flakes in the rain. This is more like it.

That gust at Shannon is huge.

I would now increase my concern for areas further east including Dublin region.

Extremely windy here, trees down all over the county and a lot have lost power.

logic would dictate that I would be safe in a 3 story build on flat land in Cork City. my mum thinks it's safer me being at home on the hills of the northside.

It's a bit more complex than that. I'm on a hill over by Montenotte at the moment and we're getting relatively little bad impact. It's very windy, but it seems that we're sort of sheltered by being on the face of the hill rather than the top.

Sometimes the wind can blow far more aggressively across flat areas or can be channelled up along river valleys.

getting very nervous here in north cork..wind doesn't seem to be letting up, powers gone, and a massive thirty year old evergreen in our garden is on it's side. Please tell me that the worst isn't still to come??

Wow what a few hours! 96kt at Kinsale platform, I'm probably the nearest house to the platform and can't recall the last storm like this one, broken windows, plenty slates, galvanised railings bent over to the ground. Really scary!

Travelled the road between Thurles and Portlaoise, via Durrow/Abbeyleix.

Debris all over the place : slates, fallen trees, rubbish bins all over the place.

Very very stormy out there. Lashing rain and wind.

M9 Dublin Waterford motorway partially blocked by a tree between exit 8 and 9 around Kilkenny.

Also several trucks overturned on the M8. Met Eireann seriously misjudged this one....

I though it was calming in Cork City then few minutes later it picks up again, just when you think its safe
    How long more anybody know

Barometer is skyrocketing so the worst may well be passed. We are still F7 on the wind scale.

One of the most severe storms in 20 years or more and Radio one is covering some totally off topic stuff.

This is a serious situation developing.

Location: Limerick City Ennis Road Area.

Just got this text from the daughter in Laurel Hill (Limerick City South):

"Teacher been blown down here. Car moved by wind. Pole gone down on Henry Street. Spar there on lockdown."

Power outage in Corbally - Limerick City East.

Lots of things going bump here.
