lol, guessing Athlone. Starting to kick off here alright.

I'd say it was the windy athlete caused that tornado in athleague.

Eye of the storm was quiet here (sligo) for hours just beginning to get vicious nothing compared to what some of you are getting. Stay safe folks.

It is nuts here in Kinvara, Co. Galway. A massive tree just blew down in my garden and the others are looking very unstable. The water was lapping over the edge at the Quay when I passed it half an hour ago (14.30) and the high tide isn't until 16.09. I would strongly advise anyone who has a car parked down in the area to go and move it

Possibly a stupid question, but no harm in asking -

If Dublin gets as bad as people are saying, I presume I should not leave my workplace at my normal finish time? I have a fifteen minute walk along a main road, a fifteen minute bus journey and another 15 min walk along a busy main road to do to get home.

Few weeks ago when the wind was bad, I was blown into the road.

Should I just wait it out in work? Is there an estimate time as to when it'll calm down in Dublin? Want to make sure I get home safely!

Yes. 7-8pm should be Ok, check AARoadwatch, Dublin Bus etc before you leave to see that youre clear home

    In Callan, Kilkenny

Usually love listening to this weather outside my window, but am actually a bit worried now. Lights flickering on and off, power has gone twice but come on a few seconds later

Is there any forecast of the wind dying down in Galway? I've been sitting pretty for an hour now waiting for it to blow over so I can go home!

They look more like fallstreaks than tornadoes but still a great capture.

What can we expect in Galway?

It's been reasonable civil here so far in the city, hasn't it? Windy obviously but not really much different from the other storms this winter. There are people cycling by my house (into the wind too :)) right now

The tone of Evelyn Cusack's forecast on RTE1 at 9.30 was all wrong. She showed photographs of snow, warned that there might be storms on Friday and only briefly mentioned the possibility of dangerous winds today. And no mention of Red or Yellow alerts.

If there is even a possibility of dangerous weather the next day, that should be the Headline of your forecast. Thanks to MT and the others around here who called this well in advance (as usual).
