Yes, looks like we topped at Shannon with 86 knots (99mph), think 1997 had a 104mph @ Valentia?

Valentia tied it's 1961 record with an 88 knot gust in 1997. Academic difference really though.

Sitting in my car I Head Ford Co Galway waiting for son after school. Huge poster after hitting car and bus. They seem ok. Feel like car will take flight soon

Cork racecourse staff are saying it is NOT flooded - someone is circulating a photoshopped image.

It was flooded a few weeks ago apparently, it's only circulating today because the farmers journal are using it for a caption competition on Facebook as far as I can see.

You won't be saying that if your roof blows off Pad

It's never going to end :) This is all because of global w.. i mean climate change, and it's all your fault. But don't worry, a little extra tax paid will sort out everything :P

In all seriousness though, after all the almosts with the previous storms, it's very safe to say this one didn't disappoint.

Just hope everybody in the worst affected areas are safe and no major injuries.

Why are there always so many global warming 'sceptics' piling into these weather threads. Global warming is real, if you want to debate, stick to the proper forum
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056351053

Nobody ever claims that single weather events either prove or disprove global warming. But global warming is predicted to increase the frequency of extreme weather events.
That's all there is to say on this matter in this thread.

Surprised there aren't more (any) comments about how they entirely missed the severity of this and completely got their forecast emphasis wrong..
