I've been reading this thread all afternoon, thanks for posting everyone and STAY SAFE. Pics are great to look at but don't do anything risky to get them.

In Dublin city centre the rain and winds have started and the window beside me is making fierce groans that it has never made before.

Had to drive from Clifden-ish to Galway and back today to finalise insurance. Going to Galway was fine, some heavy showers, not much wind, no hassle really.

When I was going home I got to Oughterard about 2pm, from there until I left the N59 was a bit hairy. Branches down off trees, saw a telephone pole snapped in half. Wind was trying to push the car off the road both sides of Maam Cross. The lakes through Recess were unreal, like the water was being sucked up off them and just thrown like horizontal rain.

Not too bad out now at all compared to earlier, even brightening up.

Some ridiculous gusts in Galway, saw two people getting blown over one of whom I think an ambulance was called for she was old and had hit her head :( Also went into get shelter in a local hotel and the doors became wind locked took 3 of us to get them open! Not too bad now though the odd very strong gust.

I wouldnt- cyclists are struggling badly.. could end up blown under a car so really not worth it.

You may be ok as traffic will be at a standstill and you wont go more than about 5mph into this wind anyway. I would wait till about 7 if it was me or else walk with the bike..

2 doors down from me in Limerick. They had a big aerial on the chimney, and the wind used it like a crowbar....

Any time now, I'm going to hear a massive crash out front when it goes....

Wind is fairly bad here now. The hills behind us sweep the wind down. I had to turn off the heating. The CO alarm went insane with the wind sending the gas back down the chimney. It is a fair fécking annoying.
