Got pretty wild in Dublin 15, one neighbour is coming home to find a big chunk from the corner of his roof on the ground. It landed on the footpath of the main route into the estate from the schools and shops.

Not bad at all here now so the segment of strong winds lasted about 30 minutes after all that!

Max Gust Dublin Airport 66 knots (122 km/hr)

It's back again but not as strong, it just seems like your normal gale force wind. I think it is going to abate further in the next hour.

Came across 5 trees down on the way back from work this evening. I wouldn't be surprised if we had a power outage in north Wicklow tonight. Some serious gusts blowing the car all over the place.

When are the winds too abate?

Hilarious mid judgement - that's been the case all winter for them, so hardly a news item today.

A very quiet factory. I suppose it's hard to know where to be.

"Mini tornado" Arghhhhh...there is no such thing. Why do the media keep using this term?

An interesting tweet from AA roadwatch:

KERRY: Motorists are advised to avoid the Dingle Peninsula as there is a lot of debris flying around, including reports of shed roofs

Ciaran Mullolly shows them all up again. Wish we had him in the south east, might actually get proper coverage on RTE news for a change.

The mentioned it on the news as a throwaway comment and and made no mention of the areas most at risk, the red alert covers a pretty big area

Third city in the country and they can't be bothered. It was absolutely incredible wind here across a big urban and economically important area, not to mention Shannon airport.

Dreadful reporting from RTE. A few token film packages from whichever regional reporters were not busy.

No practical information about the forecast for the next few hours. They should have a ticker running with Weather/Travel advice from around the country.

It not often i give praise to tv3 news, but there are miles ahead of rte today.
They even have a live special on from 8 to 10 tonight.
