Hi, I think this is in the right place but please move if not. Thank you

I am just about to finish up my degree and as a mature student. I have been on BTEA and have had my fees paid thus far. I am considering going on to do the Hdip in Further Education. My questions are this..

I heard that if you go straight on to do a postgrad from an undergrad your fees will be paid in the same way as they have been.. does anyone know if this is true? Can I maintain BTEA? I don't think I can but any advice/help would be wonderful.

And secondly.. has anyone does this course? What has been your experience?

Sadly, neither is true.

However, if your income is under a certain level you might be able to get some of your fees paid by SUSI.

If you're already on BTEA and are progressing on to a HDip course you should be able to keep the BTEA. See the link below particularly the bit "You can get the Back to Education Allowance for a postgraduate course of study that leads to a Higher Diploma (H.Dip.) qualification in any discipline or a Graduate Diploma in Education (primary and secondary teaching)."

Also,with regards to fees, you may get a contribution of €2,000 if you pass the means test and if you qualify for the special rate of grant you will get free fees up to 6,270! See this link
