Sending email with Java

Hi there,

I'm developing a web application (Java Spring) from which I'd like to send a confirmation email once a new user has signed up. Unfortunately, GMail blocks these emails on the outgoing side as spam.

Does anybody have any better ideas as to how I can ensure they get delivered?

most email will block java use plain text

Run your own lightweight e-mail server on your machine.
Let it send the e-mails out.

You can always shut it down when you're finished with it.

What do you mean "GMail blocks these emails on the outgoing side as spam"? I wasn't aware Gmail had any outgoing filtering. Why do you think it's being blocked as spam, as opposed to, say, wrong credentials? If you manually send the exact same email directly from within Gmail, does it get blocked?

Yep, it definitely blocks them. I'm going to contact my web host to see if they can provide me with some SMTP credentials - I'll report back and let you know what happens.
