Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sprayed some creeping and spear thistles with thistlex there on Wednesday, they're gone very droopy already, a satisfying sight.

Tis great at the moment, new spuds being dug here every day and the parents peel them so I get to scamper (limp) off with all the wee spuds to eat and take the skins to toss in oil and salt/pepper etc and put into the oven to make spud skin crisps. YUM :pac:

    Driving, I'm afraid!

Returning last year from the ferry, stopped for the night at a little family run campsite just outside Wexford. Across the hedge a lad was ploughing a spud field. Ploughing in tons of lovely Queen type spuds, so early next morning I rescued about 50kg. Funny how sweet they tasted!

Personally I think that women who are in full time farming should either have a full or part time housekeeper or a wife.

I did no mean it in that way persay but more in a figurative meaning.
I have found memories of digging spuds with my grandfather and also collecting worms for fishing at the same time. Anyway the larger spuds went into one bucket and the smaller ones into another. My granny used to boil up the smaller ones for the hens but before they got them she would put some into a serving dish with lots of butter and salt for us to eat. Yum yum...
In latter years the addition of a few sprigs of mint adds to the yummy eating experience :D

I reckon that I am a "few" years older than most of the regular posters on this site.
In those days I was delighted to get a few earth worms to go fishing with. There were no shops/outlets to buy bait from and I was more than happy when my grand dad or uncle cut me a sally rod with a bit of fishing line tied with a powers cork as a float.
We never got paid for picking spuds, thinning cabbage, futting turf etc. Those chores were considered/classified as contributions to the family, as they should be now days.

Are you going wandering or have you a specific destination?

I always like to wander and get lost, you never know where you'll end up. Sat nav has ruined exploring.
