Charged twice on current account?

    Hi,

    Just checking my 365 online, and it would seem that I was charged an amount of money twice. 

    Can someone please advise on the best way to remedy this?

    Have a very careful look at the transactions again in 24 hours time. There is a known issue with BOI's systems that means that at certain times of the day, some transactions seem to be there twice, because of an ongoing and unresolved issue with the way that BOI have set up their computer systems, so for a period of time, the same transaction appears online twice, but once the update process is completed, the duplication gets cleared up.

    It seems to be most noticeable during the evenings, and it's tied in with the way that they update transactions that come in to them from other banks, BOI are very coy about exactly what is being done, the bottom line is that at certain times, if you do a print of a statement, you can't rely on the accuracy of the balance that's on the page

    It's a crazy way to run an on line real time processing system, but BOI seem to think that it's acceptable, and despite being made aware of the problems it causes, they seem to see no issue with providing copies of transactions that end up showing an incorrect balance on the account at the end of the printout.

    Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

This may be shadow posting which can occur if a card payment is cancelled or voided at point of sale or as a result of transactions updating online on our systems late in the evening. If this is the case these transactions will drop off your account once the system has finished updating.[/font]
