Football has changed hugely. It's become a far more tactically disciplined game, requiring a much greater degree of fitness.

Look at the planning that Mourinho puts into games, the changes that came about following Wenger introducing different diets, fitness regimes etc. The attitudes of players are entirely different, and managing a multicultural group as oppose to having a vast majority from the same culture, in any industry, presents its own issues.

Listen to Adams, Merson etc talk about Wenger's methods, listen to Ferguson who credits his ability to move with the times as one of the reasons for his success, look at the success of managers who have embraced new methods relative to those who have maintained the status quo. Roy Keane too, never one to shy away from an opinion has spoken at length about how much things changed from his early years

The game hasn't changed, but the level of preparation, dedication and tactical nouns required is far greater then what it was twenty years ago, and irrespective of opinions on Dalglish or football being a simple game sound bites, like any industry, it changes with the times

    your wrong mate

football is a completely different game these days than even the 90's let alone the 80's

anyone disowning these facts is in denial

I would argue that that elements such as fitness, diet etc are all in place at the club and Dalglish would not have changed that.

I'm talking about the fundamentals of the game and tactics etc have not really changed that much and Dalglish showed with victiories over Chelsea and Utd that he was able to set a team up.

I think Kenny had more difficulty with the modern media demands of the game which have changed.
Either way I don't understand what the whole debate is about. Kenny is gone, won't be back in that position and current manager doing very well.

    The last 10 games

    If Carlsberg done run in's...

United - Suarez runs around Old Trafford nutmegging himself as he scores a hat-trick. The stretty end eats itself in a fit of rage as Moyes claims he's pleased they only conceded 5 and got to the byline 8 times. Now they're gonna believe us.

Cardiff - Total destruction, Vincent Tan marches down from the stand in 65th minute and fires Solskjaer on the sideline. Fabio has to be brought to hospital with rectal bleeding after the raping he took from Sterling. Now they're gonna believe us.

Sunderland - A resurgent Sunderland full of confidence after their great cup form only concede 6. Borini sitting in the stands, bites his own hand after every goal as a mark of respect to Suarez. Now they're gonna believe us.

Spurs - Tim Sherwood turns up on a big red bus to Liverpool street, London. Soldado missed it. We win. Now they're gonna believe us.

West Ham - Andy Carroll is standing in the center circle telling Downing to lump it into the box. Kevin Nolan tackles himself at the corner flag and gets sent off. Rodgers out tactics Fat Sam by telling his team to use the ball to score goals. Now they're gonna believe us.

Man City - Flanagan breaks Yaya in half with a tackle in the first minute. One Ya isn't as good as two. Henderson sets the record for most distance ever covered in a PL game. Rodgers takes him off after 35 minutes with the game already won. Now they're gonna believe us.

Norwich - Suarez scores, Sturridge dances, Skrtel stares, Cissokho smiles, Mignolet mignolets. Now they're gonna believe us.

Chelsea - The decider, deadlocked after 93 minutes as Sterling skins Ivanovic and floats one last hopefull ball into the box. It's cleared by Englands brave John Terry..... but only as far as Steven GERRARRRRRDDDDDDDDD who smashs it from 25 yards and bursts a hole in the net. Mourinho is going mental on the sideline claiming it never crossed the line. Torres cries. YNWA erupts around Anfield the likes of which hasn't being heard in 9 years. Now they're gonna believe us.

Crystal Palace - Sakho asks for more balls to be lumped into the box but there are no more. The travelling Kop are having a party - Now they're gonna believe us.

Newcastle - Kevin Keegan claims he'd love it, LOVE IT if he could get a ticket to the game. He can't. Rodgers erects a giant perch in the dugout and sits on it as he watchs the game. JW Henry puffs a cigar, Linda is wrapped in a clean sheet. Aldo screams. God prays. The King has tears in his eyes. The Kop sings as it's never sang before. 24 ****ing years and now, NOW they're gonna believe us.

    Can you feel it?

Are we in the black or in the red financially? Lots of mixed reports yesterday... From what I can gather, we have reduced the debt from the previous mess, signed a load of commerical deals that have yet to really kick in, wages have been sorted and the new Sky/Bt money is to come along with CL money should we qualify next season... is that about it?

How has football changed, still 11 players, green grass(although, that has improved) and 2 goals.

Players are fitter, ball is still round, and corner flags are made of fibre glass instead of wood.

Boots are cooler, and jerseys are lighter.

One thing that did change was that he had a better squad in the 80's than he did second time round and could also attract better signings as we were the top club in the land.

Really don't know why people are debating Kenny, he's never done wrong by the club and he also signed Suarez!

For the record, I'm with you on Kenny, whoever said that if you're an LFC fan who doesn't adore Kenny, then there is some part of you missing, and it's very sad.

But I had to pull you up on something, and that's your take on how football has changed.

How indeed has football changed? A manager used to be the guy who'd run the club from top to bottom, a la Fergie. Rumour has it that he even had control over the washing powder used for the kits (this may be an exaggeration!). However, he had complete control of everything, but it's obvious that when he left, this was unsustainable. Kenny was traditionally this type of manager.

These days, a head coach, or manager is more of a traditional business manager. He has specialists in every area, and his job is to ensure that he puts the right team in place, the right philosophy in place, and that everybody is motivated, and aligned to the same goals.

It's well known that Rodgers uses KPI's (key performance indicators), Stats, Powerpoint etc. He's like a middle manager, who is trained in Media Handling eetc.

The main areas of change in football:

    - Sports Science.
    - Nutrition
    - Tactical Evolution
    - Statistical Analysis
    - Psychological Coaching
    - Media Handling
    - Financial Management
    - Global Exposure

To summarise, I think Kenny and Brendan are men of their times. Kenny was a legend at managing in the "old fashioned" way, so now is maybe perceived as a bit of a dinosaur. Brendan is way more 21st Century, and is certainly a man on his times.

I think comparisions are dangerous; I mean, it's impossible to compare Ronaldo to Eusebio for example. They were both men of their time, and both world class in their time.

TL/DR: You can't compare them like for like as they are/were both at their peak in different eras

On another note, how good is this? Seems Suarez is truly happy, and maybe, just maybe, learned a lesson from the Fernando Torres story?

Luis Suárez believes Liverpool are primed to end their four-year wait for Champions League football but he said his future at the Merseyside club does not depend on their qualification for Europe's elite competition.....

Had a nightmare last night that club and Suarez held joint announcement about him leaving with immediate effect after the next game and we would be getting Costa instead.

Honestly don't think I've felt so miserable in a dream! I know Costa's alright and all...

Saying all the right things but, sure, that's the intention innit?

I don't trust a word out of most modern footballers mouths since Torres. There are a few exceptions: Jamie Carragher being one.

Despite what is in that article if Real Madrid come calling for Suarez with a realistic offer then he is 90% gone if we don't make the CL, and 40% likely to go even if we do imo.

I'd say it more like 60% than 40% personally. Still though, they are the best club to sell to so I hope if he's going it's to them.

It will be interesting alright to see if they do. Fortunately benzema is in great form compared to last year so hopefully that will keep up. Theyve been extremely fortunate that he hasent missed a game afaik, there only back up is morata who dosent even make the match day squad most games.

I dunno if they have the appetite for another €100M transfer 2 summers in a row. It would give them by far the best front 3 in World Football, but at some cost.

If we make CL, we WILL strenthen, and I think he'd love a chance to help us complete at that level. He'll be concentrated on the WC all summer, so will have less time to dwell on his club situation...

I doubt if Madrid would even need to bid anywhere near £100mil to land him.

they will need something in that region. Once they, city or chelsea call the price inflates dramatically. And as shown last year, FSG are prepared to make him sweat it out, plus do we really need to sell him?

On a more positive note, honeymoon back home/Switzerland/Italy coincides with the home game to Chelsea, and I just got it through parliament that we can make a cheeky stop off at Anfield for the match:D:D:D
    Fooking delighted!!!!!

Love the yellow jersey. Real old style LFC that.

However, I hate how jerseys now change every season.

Why isn't crest on home jersey white like Sponsors and Warrior branding?

I think club need to make a decision on club crest/logo.

Do any other clubs have a different crest on jersey to what appears on other areas like official documentation, buildings etc?

    Much prefer the Liverbird too.

i think the reason the kit changes every year now is got to do with the deal with warrior. they paid a huge amount on the basis they could change the kit slightly every season. for parents of budding fans its a nightmare but for the mature fans we will just have to live with it and just buy every second season or something :D

i think the idea behind the crest is that it is defined more the way they do it. i like the way that its gold in the home and third kit. automatically your attention is drawn to the liverbird. its awesome

i love the way we have gone back to the plain liverbird. the 90s crest was cool and all but this is back to basics

i really like the away keeper kit. all black looks cool and the home kit. the rest are just going to make us a few quid hopefully

(and as long as the home kit is red....)

You wouldn't mind the other two kits being blue so

The keeper away would look better as the 3rd kit.

agreed. i always had the midset of i dont care what the keepers kit looks like. but i prefer if our normal kits are just plain colours with maybe a trim on the sides

it should be the home kit all red no trim. away kit should be yellow or green with maybe a white trim and the 3rd kit all black with red trim. teh keepers jerseys can go back to the 90's versions for all i care:D hell this years away and 3rd kits could be the keepers jerseys lol
