In IKEA about a year ago I said to herself to grab one of the wall clocks pointing to a basket of them some distance away. She comes back empty handed and I give her the raised eyebrows where's the clock look. She says " oh, they were all the wrong time"

I knew a girl who was afraid of spiders so she used to check a few things before bed.

She'd check under the pillow, behind the curtains and give the duvet a good shake.

I caught her one night picking up a cardboard tube like the ones you have posters in, look down it like a telescope, saw that it was completely empty then she turned it around and looked down the other end.

Is there anyone more stupid than people who smoke outside filling stations? About once a week I see someone at it, calmly puffing away oblivious to the disaster they could foist on the public. Sure, there haven't been a spate of exploding fuel depots, but that's probably due to luck more than anything else.

What stupid things have you seen?

A lit cigarette cannot ignite petrol. Try it. Spill some petrol on the ground. Stand back, light a cigarette and take a few drags to get it going and then throw it onto the pool of petrol. The petrol will not ignite. Cigarettes smoulder as embers and as such do not have the requisite heat to cause petrol to combust. Only a burning flame does.

Of course drop a lit match or a burning zippo onto the pool of petrol and up she goes.

    Just thought I'd be pedantic.

And neither a cigarette or a standard burning flame will ignite diesel.

Question...how does one smoke a cigarette at a petrol station without lighting it first?

Whipping out a lighter in a place that's more likely to have flammable fumes in the air is not a great idea in general...
