Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So hot on the heels of "Amber" RTE have been showing ads for their latest new series "Quirke" staring Gabriel Byrne and also staring Micheal Gambon.

"An atmospheric thriller set in 1950s Dublin…Gabriel Byrne stars as the chief pathologist in the city morgue, a charismatic loner whose job takes him into unexpected places as he uncovers the secrets of sudden death."

    Starting with 3 90 minute episodes/movies,

The ads for it look interesting.

Anyone know what date it starts?

It seems to be one of those shows that both the BBC and RTE have shifted around their schedule a few times. I hope it's not the new "Amber".

The DVD is set for release on April 28, 2014 so can we assume it will be on BBC before that.

The DVD previously had release dates of 30 August 2013; 7 October 2013 and 31st March 2014 so I wouldn't assume anything.

    Starts Sun, 16/2/14 @ 21:30.

So two Gabriel Byrne vehicles will air at the same time on the two RTE stations... absolutely genius bit of scheduling there..

Surely they will push Vikings back an hour or something? :o

Quirke was heralded as a central part of BBC's Autumn season; I've read the books and the stories are good. I worry that they've screwed upt he production as mid Feb is not the primetime for this type of vehicle.

Not doubting this, but where did you find this? Saw an ad for it yesterday on RTE which just said it was coming soon, you'd think they'd have said the date seeing as it was so soon..

I seen an ad on RTE that said next Sunday so that would indeed be the 16th as previously suggested. Definitely appears to be worth a look anyway.

Is there a thread for this yet?

The production of it all looks great.

I know. Strange. That is why I thought I was in the wrong thread/there was a another thread already....

I'm loving it. Reminding me of a big BBC production.

So far the lighting looks a bit off, as if they're trying to go for a film noire look
But filming in semi-darkness doesn't add anything but annoyance for the viewer.Well, this viewer anyway.

No complaints so far.. There was a thread about it airing but nothing competing with this today.

    The difference BBC co-production makes..

    I'm really enjoying Quirke :)

Looks like Mal has being a nasty boyo!!

That comment about sending the disgraced girls home to be raped by their fathers was tragic. :(

    You mean Stanley Townsend?
He's in lots of stuff. I probably remember him best from the RTE Whistleblower mini-series where he played the disgraced consultant Dr Micheal Neary.
