    Hi folks,
Just wondering would there be a career coach of some description in the Dublin area, perhaps someone who has worked in HR who could help a person in their 30's?
I understand that career guidance is largely associated with fourth year students, but would anyone have the name/contact of someone who could help an adult?
    Thanks

    Traveller2,
I am on the lookout for an adult career advisor. Did you have any luck?

Do not waste your money on a career advisor.
They will just listen to your previous work history and upon hearing certain things, such as I worked with Microsoft Excel before, will suggest random things. Does'nt matter if you are qualified for such jobs or not.

    Want some better advice?
Either post on here what type of things you've done for various people to read and reply to (way better than just one so called advisor)

Or better yet go out and buy some different coloured sticky notes. Write down all your skills on blue sticky notes (for example) and list every little thing. Place them on a wall or table and on another colour list the jobs that interest you and then on the last what type of jobs you could get from those skills. It's called a "brainstorming process" in many fields.

You can even be more creative and use another colour to see what new skills you can easily obtain. Trust me try it and you will get a sense of things. Just remember to list ALL your skills no matter how small. Even going back to that summer job you had when you were 16 etc.

What are you looking to get out of the process?
Is it a finding-your-passion type of search you're after?

I have the names of 2 coaches - I've not used either - but do intend to work with one on interview skills later in the year.

One coach helps people find their passion. The other is more geared towards interview prep and general career advice.

Let me know if you want details.
