Im a mature student and just graduating this year from a B.A Business degree.... im very unhappy as the degree was so broad I dunno what direction to go.... im considering going bk doing a second degree making sure this time its the right one in the career I really want. Is it common for ppl to go back starting again on a second degree? Or am I completely being ridiculous? Any advice is sincerely appreciate thanks.

It would be an incredibly expensive route to take, as you would be responsible for all fees and living expenses. The obvious step is to specialise at post grad level, but as you are not clear what area you want to specialise in, it might be an idea to get some work experience under your belt first.

What may I ask is your degree in and what area are you aiming to get into?

Have you gone out and worked yet or are you just out of college? Personally I believe its very easy to feel the desire to go back and do another degree after graduating because its such a big step going into a job after college and theres theres always the feeling of the grass is always greener on the other side in other professions.

I'm not sure but I think you mentioned you had a business degree. With a degree like that, it's pretty broad and could be considered for a variety of positions, maybe you just have to find the right job instead of redoing another whole degree. I'm just going to take an example here. A friend of mine works for a top top company as a support engineer in quite a technical role. He has a degree in engineering however the company will consider any applicant from any background. In many professions, not all obviously, you dont have to get a degree to break into the industry and rise to the top.

As the above post mentioned, its a huge personal and financial commitment to put yourself through another degree. It can be done though for sure. However, you need to do a cost/benefit analysis on all of your options!! Also, you might not think opportunities are coming but the problem is that sometimes we can't see these opportunities, one day they might just jump out at you!! Be patient, make informed decisions and if you do decide to go back to college make sure you know exactly why you are doing so and that your reason is totally justified.

As a last example. If you believe you underperformed or werent happy with your degree mark, considering postgraduate study might be the best option in order improve your confidence and job prospects. As far as I know though, marks arent the be all and end all, experience will prove far more important in time.
