Does anyone know what the projected number of retirements is for an Garda siochana over the next three years?

How many recruits will be required to keep the force at it's optimal level?

Very difficult to have confirmed numbers of members retiring each year until they have actually retired or indicated their intention to retire. The only numbers that we could know for definite is those who are eligible to retire.

It is usually about 2-300 each year who are eligible to retire. That is depending there were intakes and no breaks 30 yrs ago

Couldn't imagine them being able to fit in 500 in the the next year, seems a bit much unless they've changed things down there since the last campaign!

Yeah, it's horse ****, I have since noticed that the person that said this regularly comes up with unsubstantiated nonsense on boards.
