I was wondering if anyone can give some advice about living around Foley Street in Dublin 1. There was a thread from 2009, but after looking at that I was wondering how things might have changed since then. Is it worth it to live in the area?

It's the old Montgomery street or "monto", but nowadays it's a perfectly unexceptional inner city area.

I was beaten up and mugged there in 2010. Soon moved out away, saying that I know people that lived there without (much) issue. There is a reason why the nice apartments are fortress-like.

A friend lived there in the apartments on Foley St, apart from the apartments being tiny he also got mugged at knife point at the back of the pub there. That was about 2yrs back, not sure what it's like now
