    Hi folks

    Apologies if this has been asked before (over and over) but I couldn't find any thread relating to this myself.

    Ive got 2 quotes for a timing belt service on my '06 1.9DDiS Suzuki Grand Vitara (timing belt kit, water pump, fan belt plus labour), one €445 (cannot remember if this was ex vat or not, so maybe the prices are the same) and one for €500 plus from main dealers.

    I'd appreciate it if people could offer their
    a) opinions on the prices quoted
    b) whether I should go with a main dealer, or
    c) an independent mechanic, and
    d) offer options of those independent mechanics
